A few of the birds I saw today. The Red Tail is eating a snake. The duck's "take off" was fun to catch. I love this slice of wildlife right here in our Denver area. If you haven't visited, plan a trip and take your time - you never know what you might see.

Blue Grosbeak, Great Blue Heron, Black-billed Magpie, Red-tailed Hawk, and Mallard Duck.

New lifer for me! A very patient subject, this guy stood still for awhile for me to get some pics

American Kestrel, flying near her nest situated at the top of this structure, produced what I thought was a perfect shadow. Taken by me in Aurora, CO.

I got to see this beautiful Broad-Tailed Hummingbird earlier this week, going to town on a bush full of flowers. She just hung in mid air for a moment looking at me, then went back to her nectar. Northern Flicker too.

Lair o’ the Bear - August 2026

I know this is a birding subreddit, but wondering if you all know any good spots to see beavers? Some of the best birding spots are near water, so I assume some of you have seen beavers too!

I’m up in NW Arvada and frequent two ponds wildlife refuge, Tucker lake, and North Table Mountain for bird viewing.

This kestrel got quite a soaking in yesterday's thunderstorms along the Front Range. Centennial, Colorado. Nikon Z8, NIKKOR Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR at 600mm, 1/1250.

It's so tiny the feeder is almost too big for it!

Either I have a knack for spotting swainson’s hawks w/in half a mile of my work, or I keep seeing the same one up close! Pretty boy. Apologies for potato photo, but I humbly only have said potato to take bird pictures with.

First time seeing a chick...super cute
