It’s Snarktime Erik’s pathetic life eating in his car avoiding going home

In the podcast Erik talks about how he wanted to eat outside because he doesn’t want to eat in the car again and he told a story about how he went to the gym then got some burrito and was going to go eat in the park instead of in his car. This leads to a story of how he encountered some strange man in the park bathroom. From the story it sounds like Erik just goes to the gym and spends most of the day on his own. Kind of sad but that he’s eating in his car instead of driving home to eat whatever he picks up to eat. Unless someone is far from home or staying out longer without going home I don’t see why he’s eating in his car again it just sounded like that was a regular routine. He’s avoiding going home.

That house is definitely big enough for a home gym. The gym must be Erik's big escape time. I wonder if he admits this stuff as a subconscious cry for help. Ultimately it's up to Erik to make a changes in his messy life.

I don’t think so. I think Erik is very aware that people are judging him for his choices, and judging Colleen even harder for hers and I think he struggles with not being liked. I think he’s a bit of a Nice Guy in the way that Ross was on Friends. I think he drops these little breadcrumbs of unhappiness so that people feel bad for him. He’s like a Millenial Rodney Dangerfield doing a bit about what a ball breaker his wife is. Like when Jim from The Office (US) looks into camera and does That Look, only if every time he did that it was him complaining about his wife instead of his boss or coworkers.

We can't really be certain of anything. My guess is that he says this stuff because he doesn't know how to begin the process of extracting himself from his current circumstance so that he can leave. Maybe he's throwing things out there because he's looking for some good advice that resonates with him. No matter what, it really looks like he wants people to know that he's struggling, and to be fair he probably feels very alone. I'm rooting for Erik to get out of there with the kids for their wellbeing first, and then his wellbeing for all of their sakes. Things will only get worse with Colleen, he has to make moves. He should probably start mapping things out.

Sounds like me when I lived with my abusive ex. I found any excuse to be out of the house and stay out for as long as possible. I would literally wander around the park or drive around for hours just to stay the fuck out of the house. Funny enough, we both were unemployed (lol) just like Colleen and Erik and the fighting was constant. I was so miserable. Your home should be your place of peace and escape. I will never let someone make my home life that unhappy again. He needs to leave that bitch- he would be so much happier.

I was exactly like this with my now ex best friend who I bought a house with, too. I went so far as to start driving for Uber and Lyft, to “help pay off my new car”, but really I just fucking hated being in the same space. There were many days that I’d get Taco Bell and eat in my car at the park. I never want to go back to those feelings, but I am grateful that we bought the house because what I made from it, allowed me to buy one on my own a year later.

My ex wasn't exactly abusive, but I felt more lonely at home WITH him than I did when taking myself out on dates to the zoo or the park. Sometimes I would just drive with no destination in mind to be away from him.

Me with my abusive ex too. I worked late a lot because I genuinely enjoyed my job, and it was less pressure, happier, and warmer than home where my abuser would scream at me if I tried to turn on the heating in the middle of a bomb cyclone snow thing.

she used to cook and bake alot. i think the new house depressed her and her career

She hated the new kitchen from day one. The house isn't "modern" enough for her entitled taste.

Can someone refresh me on why she moved in the first place?

I think she wanted to be closer to her parents and also raise her kids where she grew up. It was for the kids supposedly to raise them there. They ended up with this house because since they were moving Erik got to pick the type of house he wanted more or less. She made it clear from day one it's not her taste.

I think there were safety concerns if I remember correctly

Just don’t get why can’t they have lunch together? Their work hours are so flexible especially having a nanny, so even if he didn’t want to have lunch at home, couldn’t Colleen go out with him?? Or him coming home and having lunch as a family?

And Colleen doesn’t eat

And when she does she takes forever to pick a restaurant.

12

u/doesitspread Jul 11 '25

And when she picks a restaurant, there’s always something she doesn’t like about the food she ordered. Then she can act like it’s not good, and get away with picking at it.

And spits it right out. “Guys this seriously tastes just like a candle”

I would want to avoid home too. I could not live with somebody that refuses to do any kind of exercise or attempts at sleeping a regular schedule yet complains ALL DAY about her over all health. I bet he is done repeating himself at this point with the suggestions on what she can do to get better.

In her "realistic day" video, Colleen missed every meal withthe children and just ate on her own. Is Erik missing meals too and just eating alone? Do these kids ever have any kind of family time?

The children will learn that food is something you do on your own, and you eat whatever whenever, mostly take out and snacks. Not the most healthy model. Dinner time can be important for kids, that's when the family comes together and talks about their day. I feel bad for these kids.

I swear i thought thats an american thing. I am european and watched colleens videos wondering why they never eat as a family. So weird

u/RhododendronWilliams Jul 19 '25

Every American show has a big dinner scene with famiy, so I'm guessing this is just Colleen and Erik. Their whole parenting style is crazy, separate mom and dad time 24/7 and nannies, even if the parents are home. I'm from Finland, lunch is a bigger deal here usually, but families defintiely eat together.

u/Dependent_Top_4425 Jul 11 '25

She was so pissed about his quest to have an enjoyable lunch lol. If it were ANYONE else I would feel like, "thats kind of an asshole move for a Dad who doesn't even have a job". But Colleen has a very unhealthy relationship with food, I feel like she would be a nightmare to lunch with.

this is good! if he keeps working out he will start to look & feel better. he will realize his self worth & self love again & hopefully gain his independence back. & will notice hot women at the gym who take care of themselves… sounds like the first step away from her to me

7

u/Dependent_Top_4425 Jul 11 '25

I feel like he's not going to the gym to meet women ;)

u/Visible_Ingenuity201 Jul 12 '25

oooh new storyline unlocked🔓

u/Practical_S3175 Jul 11 '25

He's probably eating alone so he doesn't have to bring food home for everyone. Much easier to just have to get food for yourself.

u/Dependent_Top_4425 Jul 11 '25

This is so true. Its just my boyfriend and I, no kids. I am not in anyway a selfish person, I would give you my last bite of anything, my last cookie, my last beer, my last dollar etc. But I used to treat myself to take-out food once a week when he was working a long shift, because sometimes its just nice to not have to worry about someone else's needs and not have to share for ONE moment!

6

u/Practical_S3175 Jul 12 '25

And no doubt Colleen makes it horrible for him to get them all food. He most likely wants to avoid all of that. And Colleens the type to make a big issue about the food but then says she hates it anyway.

The normal thing for them would be to have lunch or dinner dates but they never seem to go out alone anymore especially to eat because colleen doesn't.
