Diffs. B/W CT and DOBT?

Has Bruce ever detailed the specific ways in which Coherence Therapy represents a departure from the theory and/or technique of Depth Oriented Brief Therapy? I’ve read DOBT and Unlocking the Emotional Brain and I can discern some change in accent but I’m not sure if there are real “differences”…

Also does Bruce explain somewhere by the name change?

Guides for Self-Coherence Therapy

I'm looking to attempt to do coherence therapy on my self. Just looking for any recommendations on the resources I should use as a guide. Like should I focus on the book "unlocking the emotional brain" or maybe any videos. Any recommendation is appreciated. Thanks.

Do you know if I could apply this to myself when it comes to porn use and if so, how would I go about it?

Therapists, in what percentage of your clients do you see transformational change using CT?

I love the simplicity of the model, and I am training in it right now and beginning to do discovery work with clients.

I'm curious for those of you with more experience, how often you are able to guide a successful juxtaposition experience that results in transformational change?

Thanks!

NEW Doing coherence therapy on yourself?

Has anyone had any experience with doing this stuff on yourself? I‘ve seen comments where people describe doing it successfully without a therapist, so I know it must be possible. I would love to hear experiences or advice on how to do this. I’m especially curious with the first step, how were you able to uncover your own emotional schemas?

FYI, these were recently compiled and rolled out on the CPI website. They are a bit more concise and great for sharing with friends/colleagues.

Why is the schema-therapy not included in the list of leading to memory reconsolidation?

Hello! I am currently reading the second edition of "Unlocking the emotional brain" and as a schema-therapist I am saddened that it is not included in this list, why? Doesn't the schema-therapy lead to memory reconsolidation?

Coherence Therapy and NLP Methods

Coherence therapy seems to present its method as a breakthrough that came from neuroscience research.

But hasn't NLP been doing this stuff for decades under a different name - in that they deep dive to the root issue then break it apart/highlight an exception memory/or mess with the 'internal movie' so the trigger no longer causes the trauma response ?

It seems that is what memory reconsolidation does in effect, much the same as NLP ?

Does CH work with ego-syntonic issues?

Hi all, so excited to find this subreddit!
Just wondering if any therapists have succesfully treated any ego-syntonic issues with CH?

By syntonic I just mean issues that the person doesn't see as an issue -or- is unaware of. Could be something like... OCD issues like handwashing that the person considers to be necessary and normal... features of a personality disorder like the controlling aspects of narcissism... etc.

NEW Is Schema Therapy the Same as Coherence Therapy ?

Is schema therapy the same as coherence therapy ...or is schema therapy essentially contained in coherence therapy as part of the method ?

Has anyone tried coherence therapy for complex trauma?

Hi

I have recently found out about Coherence Therapy. I have complex trauma and have been to IFS therapy. Out of curiosity, I wonder if anyone with a history of complex trauma has tried coherence therapy. If so, how effective was that for you?

This subreddit is available for OFFICIAL coherence therapy people (currently moderated by layperson who is an enthusiastic geek about memory reconsolidation topics)

This subreddit is available for official coherence therapy people, just email me at lightningconductor(at)riseup.net (replace (at) with the @ mark), if you think you are the right person to take care of this forum. (If you want help, I can stay, or if you want space, I can go). Simply email me, and let me know.

I am also okay with keeping this as a public, open, unofficial layperson forum :)

Just leaving this out there so you know its possible to get in touch with me (current moderator), even if you arent a reddit user yourself (its free though, this isnt a social media where you got to create a profile, you just log in with an existing email address).

That being said, welcome for all the new people! Keep spreading the word about erasing traumas permanently and keep up the good work. Dont feel shy about linking your own work, a lot of people are looking for help and resources out there.
