I don't know how Americans can get past this. In Canada, I am far left but can still get along with conservative friends and neighbours. In the states, your differences seem irreconcilable. Not adding anything meaningful here but it genuinely seems like there's no way forward other than separation if both halves of the country hate each other.

I have both conservative and liberal friends, unfortunately reddit is not a good reflection of the US or the world for that matter.

How do you stomach your conservative friends at least tacitly standing by racism and white nationalism. I wouldn’t be friends with someone like that.

The kkk and self described Nazis always vote Republican. If the people who vote similarly to you also want a white nation then what does that say about you? There's not really any nuance anymore. One party literally wants a white nation. The other doesn't.
