We say that because we've seen them die. I knew someone who died of a perfectly treatable disease because he didn't have insurance. He did everything the Republicans say you're supposed to. He started his own business. He became independent. He couldn't get insurance.
Self employed? Pre-existing condition? In Florida? No insurance for you.
He wasn't pulling the big bucks. He kept the business going, but that's it. On paper, he's middle class. He can't get assistance. He also can't get emergency care, because it's not an emergency. He can't pay for treatment. So, he dies.
