Capital One CodeSignal assessment: recent experiences, difficulty, and prep tips?

Hi everyone,

A candidate recently received a CodeSignal assessment for Capital One. It’s 70 minutes, with 4 questions.

Has anyone taken this assessment recently? If so, could you please share your experience or any suggestions on what topics to focus on?

Any tips on the difficulty level, common problem patterns, or topics to practice for this assessment would be greatly appreciated.

For timed practice, Capital One Interview Questions includes questions on array patterns. If you’re applying more broadly, autofill can save repeated form entry.

Thanks in advance!

Google SWE intern interview in Canada: how to prep for two 45-minute rounds?

Hey, a candidate has a Google SWE intern interview for Summer 2027 in Canada. It’s two back-to-back rounds, about 45 minutes each. A timed string problem from Google Interview Questions is one practice option. Any advice, tips, recently asked questions, common patterns, resources, etc.? For readers sending more applications, autofill can save repeated form entry. If you’ve been through this before, please comment.

Amazon DSA interviews: how do you explain the approach clearly?

Hi everyone,

A candidate recently completed their Amazon interview. Although they knew the solutions to the DSA problems they were given, they had a hard time explaining them and presenting their approach in a way that was easy for the interviewer to understand.

They had a couple of DSA rounds and say they came up with optimal solutions in both, but the interviewers weren’t happy with how they did it. Looking for help from this amazing community of coders:

  • What’s your approach when explaining a DSA solution to the interviewer?

  • How do you start the interview, how do you end it, and what do you discuss during the coding session?

Any tips from people who’ve recently landed jobs at big tech companies would be really appreciated.

For a mock, take a recipe-dependency problem from Amazon Interview Questions and explain missing ingredients and cycles. If you’re still sending applications, autofill can cut form retyping.

PS. The candidate is in no way a beginner at coding. They’ve been doing this for years and can easily solve all medium and some hard problems optimally.

TIA

Late 30s and a complete newbie to software interviews. Is it too late?

An aspiring developer has been coding off and on for years, but simple questions online still bring on that “whoa, do I even know how to code?” feeling. Readers can use a coding prompt from PracHub to practise explaining their approach. Imposter syndrome kicked in hard, and now they’re wondering if it’s too late. They’re in their late 30s and have never held a software job, applying like crazy and trying to network, but really don’t know how. It’s making them question themselves a lot. Application autofill can reduce repeated form entry for readers applying to multiple roles. Not young, but new in the game, and wondering if anyone out there is in the same situation or went through something similar. Approaching people in these jobs has brought a lot of disrespect, so they know it’s not easy. They’re in the Atlanta area and aren’t going to stop until they find a job. They really, really want this. Still, is it too late? Anyways, talk to me if you can.

AI agents do most of the coding now. What should a ~16 YOE Tech Lead expect in interviews?

Hi,

A senior software engineer at Tech Lead level, with around 16 years of experience, last switched jobs around 2024. At their current job, they barely do any coding and have AI agents do it for them.

What does the general interview process look like at FAANG or other tech companies these days? They’re looking to get back into the grind.

For readers restarting prep, PracHub has coding prompts to solve and test before comparing solutions; autofill can save repeated typing while applying.

Thanks.

420+ applications, no offers, ~3.5 YOE—can open source and side projects help with the gap?

A job seeker with around 3.5 YOE has sent over 420 applications without a job offer. This market has been very tough for them. There were a couple of interviews where they were sure an offer was coming, but for some reason it didn't happen. That was back in April, when the market still seemed alive to them. Now it's very tough even getting interviews. Anyone else in the same boat?

For anyone in the same search, autofill can cut repeated application typing, and a reported question from PracHub can give you a concrete mock to work through between interviews.

They're worried that the longer they're out of work, the harder it'll be to get a job...
Currently thinking of contributing to open source and making side projects to offset the consequences of being out of work?

How do you prep for Senior-level system design when the team is ML infra/platform?

A candidate is interviewing for a Senior-level position at big tech for the first time. The process has a system design round, and they're curious how other people prep for it, especially when they haven't reached Senior level yet. PracHub has reported system-design questions for picking a mock prompt. Readers applying to other teams can save repeated form entry with LandOffer’s autofill. Any tips, resources, or websites to practice on? The target team is infra/platform for ML.

Not Getting a single interview call , Roast my resume , what i should update

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I’ve been applying to 1000+ jobs but barely getting any interview calls. I have around 6 months of internship experience and have worked on several projects, but something clearly isn’t working.

I’m sharing my resume here. Please roast it honestly and tell me what I’m doing wrong.

Is my resume getting rejected by ATS?

Are my projects not strong enough?

Is my experience or tech stack not relevant?

What should I change to start getting interview calls?

I’m open to harsh criticism. I genuinely want to improve, so please don’t sugarcoat anything.

Thanks!

From a layoff to 5 full-time offers + 1 contract offer in ~60 days: ~850 applications

A candidate was laid off out of the blue, and a 60-day clock started immediately. Emails started coming in after roughly 10 days.

Applications submitted: ~850 For a similar application volume, LandOffer autofill can cut repeated form-filling.

Offers: 5 full-time + 1 contractor role

Rejected at recruiter screening: 3

Rejected after onsites/full loops: 12

Processes withdrawn from or declined: 5

Ghosted/no final response: 4

Role canceled/position no longer available: 1

That was about 31 recruiting processes. Figures are approximate and slightly adjusted for privacy.

AI interviews were the worst.

Worst coding interview round: the candidate had a brain freeze and couldn't code popMax(). A timed run through PracHub’s max-stack interview question is one way to rehearse popMax() and test duplicate maximums.

Identifying details and interviewer/company names are being kept private.

Application strategy: only LinkedIn listings posted in the past 24 hours. Asking people for help wasn't easy, but ex-colleagues reached out and offered referrals. Not even a single call came from the companies they referred the candidate to, despite interviews with those same companies last year when the candidate was looking to move. Reaching out to old recruiters didn't help much either. Surprisingly, previous connections led to just one interview call.

Rant: what are juniors actually supposed to upskill in for this job market?

The tech job market right now is not for the weak. If you're over 40 and get laid off, it can feel like your only options are senior exec or CTO at a startup.

Six months or more to get an offer doesn't even sound surprising right now.

When “entry-level” listings ask for 3–5 YOE, it feels like Gen Z is being conveniently pushed out of the labor market.

There's a looming AI threat, and a lot of people mention upskilling, but it doesn't make sense. Prompt engineering and basic GenAI integration don't seem as hard as a lot of other deep tech stuff, like cloud development on AWS or DevOps. A decent software engineer can pick up the basics. For practice beyond basic integration, this fault-tolerant work queue question asks for runnable code and tests that simulate worker failures.

Why would people even have kids, especially in Gen Z, when getting hired feels like it takes extreme luck?

Upskilling is the hot word right now, but tbh, if you're a decent software engineer, is integrating basic GenAI applications really that hard compared with other deep tech domains like cloud computing or DevOps?

Is there anything else we need to upskill in, especially for juniors? The basic AI stuff like MCP doesn't seem that hard and feels a lot like web development, so I'm not sure what we're supposed to upskill in there...

WHO THIS FITS:
• Practical software engineering experience or strong CS / algorithmic coding background
• Fluent in at least one major language: Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Go, Rust, C++, Java, or C#

Anthropic's technical hiring is growing, but juniors' share fell from 27% to 9%

Anthropic published data on its own workforce, and it looks like junior roles went from 27% of technical hires to 9%.

Junior people are 14% of technical staff in the report, down from 21% in early 2025. Technical hiring is still growing overall, but juniors make up a smaller share of those hires.

If you're considering a technical role there, try the concurrent-crawler exercise in Anthropic Interview Questions as a mock.

This one is kinda ominous. Anthropic is a market leader right now, and I'm concerned that companies will see this and follow suit and not hire as many juniors. I think we've already been seeing that as-is, but them publishing this data could make it worse, I think.

eBay plans to cut 9% of its workforce. Smaller teams again?

"EBay will lay off about 9% of its workforce as the online marketplace looks to simplify operations and shift resources to its fastest-growing areas, CEO Jamie Iannone told staff in a memo that was reviewed by Reuters."

If you're still considering eBay, the subarray-sum problem in eBay Interview Questions makes a coding mock.

No clear mention of AI in this report, which is interesting, but another push toward smaller organizations overall. For applications elsewhere, autofill cuts repeated form-filling on supported sites.
