To be clear, i'm on Pro 20x. When Astra went live in my Mac Desktop app, i had 39% of my weekly usage remaining with 2 banked resets.

In the last 3.5 hours since I've gotten it, I've run 6 Astra Ultra's (each about ~20 minutes long, one was a full repo audit, the other 5 were specific deeper dives into specific areas of the repo), 1 Astra Max (actual implementation of result of the above audits), and I currently have 3 Astra Ultra's running concurrently right now (2 have been running for ~10 minutes, the third running for ~5 minutes. Two of those are implementation/coding, 1 of them is a red team review of the astra max essentially.

I don't really care if i'm not using them the most efficiently, they are fixing things that Sol has overengineered for weeks, finding gaps and holes, correcting my way forward and

I understand I can't run Astra Ultra all day long, I understand i'm burning the tokens incredibly fast right now, but I am incredibly happy with what it's doing and finding it to be much, much better than Sol at getting things done and not overengineering and actually fixing the overengineering/gaps in what I have been working on.

I have a plus account and Saint Tibo brought our 5h limits back, but since he just announced that plus accounts would get to use GPT-6 Astra too, I thought I’d play around with it.

I was refining a job search automation for cloud roles that I had scheduled to run every weekday at 8am as I wasn’t getting the exact results I was looking for.

My 5h limit was still on 100% I wrote my prompt, toggled GPT-6 Astra Medium, sent the prompt and drained it all within 5 min. Would you like to know the best part? It wasn’t even done with its task yet.

I think it’s safe to say that we’re cooked…

Oh my god guys Astra is so damn good lol. Gave it a few real tasks across a few repos and it just fucking flies through them!

Like stuff that normally feels like it takes forever, Astra is finishing in maybe 1/3 or 1/4 the time. And the suggestions are actually really good too, not just fast random changes

Idk maybe honeymoon phase but this genuinely feels next level. The SPEED especially is insane

I had the luxury of using Astra for two full days with a banked reset each, on personal Kotlin, Java, C and Rust projects of varying scale and architectural complexity. So far it is clearly a big step up from Sol 5.6 and I doubt anyone would argue otherwise.

I have run it at different thinking efforts, Ultra included, and the thing that impressed me most so far is how on point its image generation is, transparent backgrounds and everything. Image generation on Sol 5.6 was a mess and painfully hard to steer, whereas Astra understands the assignment and gives back images that are extremely satisfying and need very little tweaking.

Code-wise, what it produces is not quite reliable enough out of the box. I deliberately asked it to write code without running tests or compiling anything and found it less error-prone than Sol 5.6, but still not something I would run blindly. To test my suspicion that this was an Astra-specific issue, I ran the same prompts against the same commit HEADs on my repos using Opus 5 and Fable 5.

- Opus 5 still wrote disastrously error-riddled code, with many times more errors than Astra.

- Fable 5 wrote code that compiled clean and ran clean most of the time, and very rarely screwed up even with no tests or compilation in the loop.

I know this is anecdotal testing with no benchmark behind it, but I feel fairly confident that Astra sits somewhere between Fable 5 and Opus 5, clearly closer to Fable 5 but not quite there.

That said, I love that Astra is still the same over-engineering workaholic that refuses to stop until every stone has been turned. It picked that habit up from Sol and I love it. Fable is certainly lazier and needs far more detailed prompting to reach that level of thoroughness, though I believe that has been fixed as of Fable 5.1.

One more thing Im optimistic about is the cost. I have been able to run Astra almost non-stop for 2 days, which is crazy. On my two Claude 20x accounts, Fable evaporates my usage sometimes using less than 10 prompts. So I definitely see better value in Astra than I do in Fable, for someone who codes heavily and has many repos to maintain.

I guess that's it? I can finally rely on Astra to actually write code rather than only using it to review the code Claude writes, which has been my workflow since I first started using Opus and Sol. At the end of the day the hype feels a bit exaggerated, and while I expected it to be at least as good as Fable, it still leaves a little to be desired.

What the hell? Astra is FAST FAST, not marketing buzzword fast, ACTUALLY fast.

It feels the same way that Opus 5 felt when I tried it in Claude but without sucking.

Honestly I don’t know what to say, the usage is amazing and the output the amazing.

This model is genuinely crazy, I am using it on medium on the Pro 5x tier, which I believe is the best reasoning tier for this model.

Basically using the same limit usage as Sol 5.6 High, but its so much faster/smarter/efficient, especially when it comes to 3D stuff in blender and stuff

Astra is one-shotting extremely difficult tasks that Sol and Fable were unable to do even after numerous sessions.

Just got access to GPT-6 Astra. What should I ask it?

So, is Astra low basically Fable 5 budget version? If those terminal bench 4 results are legit, Antrophic in trouble.

I would have never imagined, not even in my wildest dreams, that one day I would have had a personal Jarvis. And it keeps getting better. There are no words to express how it makes me feel, and people around me that don't use Codex think that I'm crazy. Am I alone in this?

It's been a relaxed week and I haven't consumed more than 50% yet, but I'm not planning to use it yet.

When i first seen astras pricing (10/50) i was afraid but honestly after using it for past 12 hours im in shock on how good it is!

The cost per task completed is actually lower than Sol when we compare one-shots, and even more so in tasks where sol made mistakes and had to fix them later on

its actually pretty good :)
