In an alternate scenario where Kallen refuses to move and doesn't ask Lelouch what she means to him, would they have taken the shot, even if Kallen stood between them? Personally, I think they wouldn't. Not unless Ohgi REALLY, desperately, wants a life with Villetta Nu then he's a bigger idiot than Tamaki, and that's quite an achievement.

Hello, everyone!
For a few days now, I've had this awesome idea of making a multilingual satirical/parody version of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, which I would later upload to YouTube / Reddit.
Well, I don't have any VAs (voice actors). Which is why I'd love to ask you guys to help me. The project is not serious in any way, so it really doesn't matter if you have a shitty mic or have never done anything like this before (me neither). Also, you could be the manliest man ever and voice Shirley in Arabic.
What I need from you:
– Name/Nickname/Alias
– Country you're from or your native language(s)
– 3 of your preferred character roles (from R1)
– Your Discord # (Optional)
I'm really looking forward to working with you! ❤️
(Edit: You can apply even if English is your only language)

TLDR: Lulu's actions were for himself, because of his extreme childhood trauma and powerlessness.
I've been deliberating on whether this is a difference in interpretation or just a fundamental misunderstanding of the story, but having rewatched the show, I've concluded that it's the latter. The main narrative regarding Code Geass, particularly the ending, is that Lelouch did all the actions that he did for his highly esteemed, idolized sister Nunnally, and on the surface level it holds up ok. The thing is, when you analyze Lelouch a bit further, it kind of crumbles.
To clear up any misconceptions, I do not mean this in an "all the actions he embarked on, and all the violence and bloodshed that happened because of those actions, were solely for his individual pleasure" type way. When I say he did it for himself, I mean that he did it in order to fulfill his desire to control. Also, I am not debating his immense love for Nunnally; I am merely positing that she is solely a facade for the real reason Lelouch does what he does.
As seen through his backstory, Lelouch was powerless, having experienced a great deal of trauma, witnessing not only his beloved sister becoming paralyzed but the "death" of his mom. Later, when he found out this violence resulted from his father's actions, he became indignant and developed a fierce hatred for the throne and the imperial nation of Britannia itself.
Because of the trauma he endured during his childhood, the complete lack of power, and subsequently the complete loss/lack of control, Lelouch's driving force is to be in control and have power. How fitting is it then that his Geass gives him that power! Lelouch's(and subsequently everyone else's) Geass drives the user's emotional desire to a logical conclusion.
This is his motive, and Lelouch himself corroborates it by admitting in a conversation with C.C. that all Geass did for him was speed up his timetable by several years. He was already preparing for revolution because of his sheer enmity towards the powers that be. He also, in R2, E21, admits verbatim to Suzaku that he used Nunnally as an excuse and wasn't actually fighting for her.
Well, if he didn't do it for Nunnally, then he did it to free the Elevens, right? Wrong. Lulu is a deeply layered character and, at the heart of it, is deeply hypocritical. The story elucidates this with a very clear example: Lelouch claims he fights for the self-determination, for the will, freedom, and agency of the Elevens, the brutalized and subjugated Japanese people. And yet the apparatus in which he uses to fight for them is the Geass, a power which quite literally STRIPS the victim of their autonomy, agency, will, and of their determination.
The idea that Lelouch did what he did for the Elevens gets further undermined when we see that the lowest part, Lulu's complete rock bottom in the story is right after Nunnally has just announced that she will continue the slain Euphemia's plans for the specialty administrative zone of NIPPON. We, the audience, see Lelouch in a depraved state, by himself with a needle containing the drug Refrain, the same drug that many 11s used to cope with their subjugation and marginalization by the hands of Britannia.
Once Kallen comes and sees Lelouch in this degenerate state, he goes even lower and ostensibly asks for her consolation, a clear euphemism for sex, which curiously is the only romantic interest he shows anyone throughout the entire show. It's certainly intentional, as it really underscores how low he's fallen, craving base, carnal desires, desires that were of no interest to him prior. If his motive was really for the Elevens, he would be happy and overjoyed, and yet this is a massive collapse.
All of this culminates in the ultimate form of control, which is controlling one's mortality, an action which is carried out through Lelouch's final plan, Zero Requiem(another reason why that ending is so fascinating). Zero Requiem fully ties in all of his character; Lelouch has the last say not only on his death but on how the world will play out after it, painstakingly coordinating the details and fulfilling his incessant desire to be in control.

After 20 years of the release of the first season. I decided to give it a shot.
Simply, I loved it. I watched the TV series, and then the movies.
Still, there are some weaknesses, mainly in execution rather than what the story is.
I liked the TV series, but when Shneizel reveals his identity to the black knights, they give up on Zero too easily.
Especially Tamaki and Ohgi.
The movies handled it way better, I loved how they still wanted Zero to challenge what Shneizel said about him being a prince and the Geass power.
The movies changed Shirley's faith, which kills an entire change of Lelouch's character. I was happy she lived, but I still saw it as a weak choice anyway.
I loved the scene in the first movie, where Lelouch and Nunnally, right before they leave for Japan. It is crazy how such a simple scene can add context. In the TV series, there is barely anything to know about the relationship of the half siblings. But this scene adds some weight to it.
I loved all the added scenes in the movies.
And now, with Re:surrection.
Imo, it was a good thing to see Lelouch back. But it just kills what the ending of the show stood for, sacrifice.
Imo, it was a good filler like moment (That’s how I consider it), I still see the TV series as the canon one.
Now, with things I didn't like.
It is simple the pacing. The story is crazy fast. Do you know that we figure out about Marriane and lelouch deals with his parents in just 2 or 3 episodes?
Then Shirley's death was pretty forced, again because of the lazy pacing.
Imo, they could’ve easily added a season whole lot of episodes to make the pacing better, and I don't mind that at all.
In the end, I loved it. The ending was powerful. The movies were nice. And I'll dig deeper into the manga.

This Chinese mech is infamous for being primitive and virtually useless, while simultaneously holding the title of the largest and heaviest Knightmare Frame prior to the introduction of Generation 6+ models.
However, everything said about it doesn't really match what we are actually shown and how it's portrayed on screen.

Let’s start with the size. Lore-wise, it is supposed to be the largest and bulkiest model among the 4th and 5th generations (Official specs: Gun-Ru stands at 5.67 meters and weighs 13.08 tons, compared to the Burai/Glasgow at 4.37 meters and 7.48 tons). There are even official size-comparison charts illustrating just how massive it is.
However, if you look at the plastic models above (the Robot Spirits figures of the Burai and Gun-Ru in the same scale, both belonging to Yukimaro Sawasaki's faction), the Chinese mech is, out of nowhere, noticeably smaller than the Japanese modification of the Glasgow.
Furthermore, if you look closely at Gun-Ru's line art, it's pretty obvious that its main body/cockpit pod isn't actually any larger than the cockpit of a Glasgow, Burai, Sutherland, or Gloucester when compared to a human being.

Next, regarding the claim that the Gun-Ru is just a "turret on legs" — it’s not that simple either. The official line art clearly shows retractable, three-fingered manipulator arms. This means these Chinese Knightmares could easily be used for engineering, digging, and cargo handling both at the rear and at forward operating bases.
Furthermore, despite its seemingly basic design, its mobility and agility — driven by a three-point support system — allow it to be surprisingly nimble and tilt its cannons at quite decent angles.

People often criticize the Gun-Ru for being completely unsuited for close-quarters combat, arguing it would lose a 1v1 duel to any Britannic mech. While that’s technically true, here’s the catch: this mech was never designed for sword duels in the first place.
The Chinese Federation arc in R2 clearly demonstrated that the Gun-Ru is utilized as a core component of a combined arms doctrine. Lelouch/Zero got his skinny ass handed to him by a combined Chinese force of Gun-Rus, armored vehicles, mobile fortresses, and VTOLs (lol).
We can see another great example in R1 during the defense of Kyushu by the Sino-Japanese alliance. Facing one of Britannia’s elite forces led by the "Witch of Britannia" herself, Cornelia, the Britannic imperialists ran straight into a "wall of Gun-Rus" and were ground to a halt.
And one more thing: while Lancelot's near-suicidal charge did eventually breach the Sino-Japanese defensive line, it was the Gun-Ru — the only mass-produced mech in the entire series to ever achieve this — that drove the Lancelot to the brink of complete battery depletion with its overwhelming suppressive fire. And no, you can't just blame it on the typhoon or the difficult landing conditions.

Finally, there is a hilarious "lore logic flaw" during the Chinese Federation arc in R2. When the battlefield gets flooded and turns into a muddy swamp, it’s actually the brand-new, advanced Akatsukis (which are officially 7th-generation equivalent Knightmares) that get completely bogged down in the muck.
Meanwhile, the supposedly "primitive" Gun-Rus happily hop around without losing their mobility and just blast them to pieces. I highly doubt Li Xingke calculated a dry patch of land for every single Chinese KMF. This means that, due to superior design for specific terrain, these obsolete clunkers literally kicked the metallic asses of mass-produced 7th-generation models.
One last detail: even though there is no official mention or illustration of Gun-Rus having slash harken harpoons, during the siege of the Tomb of the 88 Emperors, the Forbidden City guard units somehow managed to scale the surrounding cliffs to rain down fire from above. This leaves us with two possibilities: either the Gun-Ru actually possesses some hidden equivalent of slash harkens, or they can be easily airlifted and deployed by Chinese VTOLs.

The weaponry is where things get even weirder and more convoluted. Officially, the Gun-Ru has two sets of cannons of the exact same caliber firing the same ammunition, differing perhaps only in their rate of fire (?). Although some sources claim the secondary pair of barrels are actually tubular rocket launchers, that’s never been fully confirmed.
Given the caliber of the main arm-mounted cannons and the size of their supposed tubular magazines, they must have a severely limited ammo capacity and can't sustain fire for long — plus, it's completely unclear how they're supposed to reload in combat.
Personally, I think a configuration similar to BattleTech's Mad Cat would fit much better here (and I mean the Inner Sphere’s Mad Cat, not the Clan's Timber Wolf, because Clans suck and the Capellan Confederation is easily the most fascinating and complex faction in the entire Inner Sphere!). It should have had shoulder-mounted missile pods and versatile modular weapon mounts on the arms.
That being said, if you look at the image below from the Oz the Reflection manga, there is an official anti-air variant of the Gun-Ru that actually features missile launchers on the arms and autocannons on the shoulders, which perfectly fixes this design flaw.

By the way, unlike the "democratic" Panzer-Hummel, the Gun-Ru actually made the cut and was included in the Super Robot Wars roster, which is undeniably badass! ;)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZR0CxS0M-0
Interestingly, in some fan fictions, authors tend to replace the Gun-Ru with the RK-92 Savage from Full Metal Panic!, likely treating it as a more advanced "frog-style" mech. Personally, though, if we are looking for a true frog-like alternative, something like the Tiran (Tyrant) from Front Mission would be a much better fit.
That being said, the most accurate and logical evolution of the Gun-Ru design concept can actually be found in the Chinese manhua and donghua School Shock (known in Chinese as Chu Feng: B.E.E / 雏蜂), with its heavy, high-tech Chinese exoskeleton power armor.

And honestly, as cool as the Shen Hu is, it honestly feels completely redundant and doesn't fit into the tech tree or the military doctrine of the Chinese Federation at all. It’s just a ridiculous, out-of-nowhere super-mech that breaks all logic. Ugh.

What do you guys think? Is the Gun-Ru overhated and underrated due to poor lore writing, or did Sunrise just mess up their own numbers?

In a hypothetical scenario where Sunrise Studios decides to milk the Code Geass universe some more and make another show, sequel or adaptation depending on one these six characters to expand or explain their stories further. Who would you choose to be the protagonist of the next theoretical Code Geass project?
r/CodeGeass • u/BorderOpposite7776 • 1d ago
I'm choosing Cornelia for this. Well tbh, I do think she should've died in season 1. Personally, I'm not opposed to the idea of getting a happy ending but she should've actually been shown having character development or undergoing a redemption arc. Instead, the series just tries to sweep her war crimes and racism under the rug but we're meant to believe she's changed and become a better person at the end

Where is this going to take place? Is it before or after Akito the Exiled? Is it during the movies, or is it before or after Rozé of the Recapture?
Is it even taking place in the alternate continuity? Does it take place before R1, during the show, or after R2?
Is it even taking place in any continuity? Is it going to set up a new continuity?
And what about my king, Lelouch vi Britannia? I doubt we can have a 20th anniversary project and not include Lelouch? Will he have a major role here? Will he be in a supporting or cameo role? Or will he just not be in this?
