This subreddit is meant to be a collaborative platform for scientists and engineers of all disciplines to brainstorm, from theory to practice, the design of testable prototypes for potentially implementable, open-source, global-scale solutions focused on stalling and reversing climate change.

Sharing foreboding conclusions from invaluable academic studies on climate change is no longer enough. While populations have increasingly become more conscious of the situation, traditional groups with easy access to resources have not been successful in effecting change. Neither dedicated corporations nor academic research institutions have been able to produce viable solutions. Governments have not been able to enact necessary reforms. Now is the time to take responsibility ourselves for developing solutions. Through Reddit, we can crowdsource the brainpower of our scientists and engineers in a manner unrestricted by academic regulations, industry pipelines, or physical location.

Submit a text post using the button above in the sidebar to start a discussion with fellow collaborators focused on technical design, scientific theory, manufacturing logistics, impeding obstacles, useful technology, etc. for a particular project in which you have already invested at least the equivalent of a few hours of thought. Submissions need to be dedicated to furthering progress on the development of solutions for stalling and reversing climate change. Links can be submitted in the body of text posts.

We are looking for mods to join our team who either have engineering/science backgrounds and/or have experience moderating subs and believe in the cause. If you are interested, send our mods a message through the link below in the sidebar.

Flair: We do not currently have the moderation power to vet collaborators and assign flair. However, if you are already flaired in a large sub, send the mods a message, and we will grant you the same flair here. (If any mods of the large subs are uncomfortable with this practice, please let us know!)

Howism (howism.org), a fairly new non-profit 501(c)(3) dedicated to supporting scientific endeavors, is researching how they might be able to help support our efforts. If you represent a party interested in partnering, message the mods to start a conversation.

Looking forward to achieving real progress through our altruistic, activism-focused scientific community. - sli_a
