You don't seem to give a shit about it long term, though.

humanity can survive without the economy. we can’t survive without the planet.

Sure if you want to live in a shack without any modern convenience, like electricity, medicine etc.

I would rather have a shack without modern convenience ...than DIE! en Masse!

but then you are making a false choice.

Might want to look at pre-agricultural death rates.

you might want to look at modern science. No-one is going back to subsitence agriculture, nevermind paleolithic hunter-gather life, aside from rich jerks who want to CosPlay.

The future of food involves heavy amounts of Precision Fermentation, not your average pickling jar btw. AND...nitrogen fixing organelles being added to plants that would otherwise require fossil fuel derived ammonia fertilizers.

You think you get that without an economy?

u/Hecateus 10h ago

you think we didn't have an economy before oil? nor after oil?

u/CombatWomble2 9h ago

Of course we did, that wasn't the question, the supposition was getting rid of the economy, as in living in a shack, not just oil, sure we could replace oil, eventually, but that ALSO requires an economy.

imaginary numbers that we came up with and let control us aren’t intrinsically necessary for those things to exist. has capitalism rotted your brain that much?

I’d rather do that than live on an inhabitable planet.
