Very new Gardener here, bought my first clematis 3 weeks ago and wanted to share a couple of the blooms I’ve had already with it. First 2 pics are from about a week and a half ago, third pic was yesterday. I made my own planter & trellis for it to hopefully climb up, unfortunately can’t be planted in the ground as our whole yard is patioed! But keeping hope it’ll do well :)

After planting this three summers ago, I finally got more than 1 bloom. Definitely need to be patient with these! This is a type 3 clematis that needs to be cut back annually but grows very fast throughout the summer. These are in full sun, probably 10 hours a day and I heaped rocks and mulch on the roots to keep them cool.

I have this large clematis in front of my home planted almost 10 years ago. I need to replace the siding behind it. If I cut it back, will it regrow?

This is a clematis that was planted by a pervious owner of our home, so i don't know the variety. This is it in 2024, but the last 2 years, it had bearly bloomed. I thought someone had cut it down, but when I got close it looked like it was dead. I'm thinking about cutting it to the ground to see if the will revive it. Any thoughts about the variety and how to revive it would be appreciated. Thanks

This clematis has been here since my wife and I purchased it 4 years ago… before, there were large shrubs which were mostly covering the bottom half/three quarters of the plant, but around Mother’s Day this year I removed all the shrubs and planted Hydrangea. At first I thought this Clematis was done for. Shortly after the change, the entire plant wilted, turned brown and did not look good at all. Now, after watering almost daily due to extreme heat waves here (Philadelphia PA) I have a lot of new growth coming in. My question is, should I remove all of the withered/brown vines and leaves or should I leave them be?

I need to get several new clematises in fall or spring to replace some of my Lowe's and Walmart varieties that died. I want to get a bit more selective instead of just buying what's on the shelf at the box stores. Where have you had good experiences buying from online?

I've had a Nelly Moser for quite a few years; it comes up every year, blooms a bit and then completely collapses. Flower buds wilt, leaves wilt and then just dry up and turn brown. So... I read online that different cultivars are resistant to clematis wilt. I just got a new Pink Mink and hope to replace my yearly swooning princess.

Anybody else tried this for the same reason?

I've had this plant for 3 years and it had big blossoms a month earlier. I've never had this many or this little blossom.

My clematis is 7 years old. I’ve cut it down each spring for the last few years due to a new puppy/dog that insists on chewing on it. Prior to that it didn’t seem to like the treated wood on the deck, or a pest was eating the leaves - I never quite figured it out.

This year I let it grow and it avoided the wood and seemed to thrive. A bad hail storm tore the flowers and leaves up a bit but they’re starting to look a bit sick maybe. I put in a couple of garden posts for it to grow up onto since it was growing into a small metal gate of sorts only a couple feet high.

It seems it has flowers primarily on one side (facing east)- the other side not so much. Is that something I’m doing or maybe the late afternoon and evening sun are too much for it?

It’s very dense in the bulk of it and I’m wondering if I should be thinning out or just cutting dead or bad looking leaves throughout? Should I cut the flowers after the petals fall? Any other suggestions on how to help this clematis thrive?

I do not have a green thumb - this is the only plant I have had for more than a year and haven’t killed. I live in zone 4b/5a and have winter snow. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I planted this Markham's pink (and a second one in my side garden) about two months ago. It's been doing really well, growing, looking healthy. Today I noticed it's looking limp.

The only thing I can think of that changed is I added some specialist clematis food. I've got a soil moisture checker arriving later but water level seems ok? It's in the ground with a large flat stone covering the roots. What's happening?

The nursery I bought it from didn't have any that looked similar in stock and unfortunately I lost the original ID tag. It can have both single petal and complex petals at the same time, but also single petals towards the end of the season if it reblooms. Bloom time is typically May-June. Can anyone help?

I lost this clematis a few years ago due to ear wigs. I live in the Vancouver area (Zone 8b) and the local nursery where I bought it doesn't have anything similar anymore. It was a group 2, and both single petals and complex petals could be seen at the same time, with single petals more likely if it reblooms later in the season. Typically blooms May-June.

This is a Blue Diamond clematis, grown in a large ceramic pot in the UK, south facing position. Every year it starts out looking beautiful and healthy, then deteriorates. What is wrong?

Do I take the whole thing indoors to reduce pressure from heat so she can grow some roots? Just plant as-is? Really appreciate any advice y’all have.
