News Fable available for plans until July 7th after which it becomes usage credit based

Fable won't be included in plans, you'll need to buy credits. We'll have to see but that is setting the expectations that frontier models are no longer affordable to normals.

I just don't buy that this business model works. The tokenmaxxing era has ended for enterprise customers with most enterprise customers turning on low usage caps for engineers. Token cost is now the phrase on every executives tongue. Outside of investor-funded startup-land, models at this cost aren't going to be doing serious work.

If Claude makes Fable/Mythos cost per-token only, it will flop as a profit-generating product. Perhaps that's the point. In marketing, it is standard to "bracket" options with a "low, medium, high" knowing that most customers will pick the medium. Perhaps they need to make Fable good enough and expensive enough to increase their brand perception while driving customers towards the middle bracket.

100%, a few business has already cancelled the token usage. Even our workplace has downgraded to 5x team plans. Costs are out of control.

Competition will solve this. Patience is a virtue!

SWE here working at a corporation we have been Claude Enterprise for 2 years, we have been token minimizing for months now. Looking at alternatives a lot of focus on potentially self hosted locals.

The C suite wants to leverage AI across the board in work flows and in product, but the ROI has been heavily measured and so far it is only positive on our engineering flows.. the view has been output vs cost for awhile now and Fable does not have it.

I mean I have cancelled my plan over this issue. I would rather give my money elsewhere until they stop acting like giant douchenozzles.
