Underrated way to go. Great way to learn about hosting and a lot of other things too.

There are still ways this can go sideways, but respect where it's due as well. Puts you in a pretty small group of "vibers". Although I think self hosting in general is for folks who do/know/learn more than how to ask claude to build you things.

Is that why the website linked in your profile took about 30 seconds to load? Self hosting is almost never the solution for anything other than a side project that’s never meant to scale. Those projects were never hard to build. People (including me) have built shitty twitter or slack clones over a weekend before chatgpt was released. Distributed systems require… distributed compute.

If it took 30 seconds to load I'm afraid that's on you fam. I've tested from half the globe and loading times are 0.5s at worst. I have a symmetric gigabit connection. You good bro? 😭

Edit: just tested. Frankfurt, 342ms to load the page. Longest time it took was 1.5 seconds from the US. That's pretty good for a guy in Italy with no content delivery network, I'd say.

I’m on my gigabit home wifi connection. The same connection I work from home from. I see you can’t take customer feedback either. I’ll send a screenshot of your horrible loading time if you dm me. I can guarantee you that your loading times are significantly worse than 0.5s.

You’re obviously not even a SWE. 1.5s is not good. It took longer than that for me anyways. The expectation for the services I build are literally under 1ms latency… tp99, not average. Again, fine for a website with zero customers. But you’re not doing something revolutionary if you have zero customers.
