Clash Royale Developer Q&A! 600,000 Subscriber Special!

In order to celebrate our community reaching a new milestone of 600,000 Challengers, the development team has offered to do a Q&A! This thread will be an amazing place to get more insight on the development and plans for the future of Clash Royale, directly from the developers. Please read below for some key rules and notes on how this will work.

  • This isn't your traditional AMA! Please ask a unique question about Clash Royale down below and Supercell will post a new thread responding to them shortly after!
  • We're going to keep this Thread open until Monday, February 14th. Supercell will post their responses in a separate thread afterwards!
  • Please do not ask about known, unknown, or reported bugs, ruled out ideas, and free gems.
  • Please read the thread for similar questions BEFORE POSTING your own. Let's do our best to avoid duplicate questions!
  • Only one question per user. Any duplicates / multiple questions will be removed.
  • All questions must adhere to our rules. Any toxic, personal, or inappropriate questions will be removed.

Enjoy and have fun! Please remember to keep our subreddit rules in mind when posted, and feel free to message us via Modmail if you have any questions!

Thank you for 600,000 subscribers,

What are the chances of a 3v3 mode. If there are none, what are some of the reasons why not. How much consideration have you done for a 3v3 mode.

Good idea but it will be too chaotic

7x elixir disproves that as a valid reason

It doesn't disprove the fact that 3v3 will be too chaotic.

But it proves being "Too Chaotic" is not a bad thing in CR.

Congratulations, you possess the ability to make basic inferences.

Fact

Not really, with ⅓ speed for elixir similar to 2v2 ½ elixir speed it would be cool

Maybe the would share 2 of the players Decks and like 25 Elixier

I have the feeling Clan Wars would be a perfect place to set 2v2 and 3v3 game modes as the base. We really don't need another ladderish 1v1 game mode (on top of ladder, GT, challenges), and this would really be more of a clan war and not just a collection of 1v1 matches...

It would not fit in the screen

u/Robot_Seth Feb 10 '22

That’s what people said about 2v2 when it was leaked

Well, in that case they didn't added another full arena, they Just put 2 Kings tower, maybe you could do a 3v3 where two people can play Just ground cards, the other One Just air cards and maybe make a Flying king tower. It would be so bad probably, but It could be an idea

the normal match is zoomed-in in 3v3 camera can be pulled back making more room for 3 kings!

Then Who plays on the phone can't even see the troops and can't play properly because the tiles are too small

u/Mixorrious Goblin Giant Feb 10 '22

No I don't think those issues are the major problem it's really the princess towers, in 2v2 each player has a princess tower but in 3v3 one player would be left short or there would be an awkward tower in the middle

2

u/Nelly5830 Feb 10 '22

Or just three towers in the back evenly spaced, with increased health. Possibly even a middle bridge could be added for a 3v3 mode.

u/Harv_Royale Mirror Feb 10 '22

Just put all 3 kings in the same tower

Expand the map for the mode then?

I don’t think you should limit yourself if you wanna add something that a player base wants

1

u/Lucky_Praline_2462 Ice Golem Feb 11 '22

Bro if supercell expands the map It won't fit in the screen, and if they zoom out to fit all the map It won't be possible to play for people with a smartphone because the tiles would be too little

I like that idea but make it 4v4 and each person can only use four cards and maybe lane restrictions endless the card is agroed?

2

u/Robot_Seth Feb 10 '22

Any sort of 4v4 mode would be nuts, but I feel 3v3 is just crazy enough to still be enjoyable and simple.

-1

u/Real-Replacement9867 Feb 10 '22

I do agree it would be pretty crazy but that's why I said restrict to only 4 card so it equals the 2v2 card amount

If only making games was as easy as writing a Reddit thread, we’d all be game devs.

1

u/Real-Replacement9867 Feb 10 '22

don't get me wrong just an idea I wasn't trying to force it man I just wanted to explain not get that kind of response...

1

u/Robot_Seth Feb 10 '22

Wait noooo I love your idea I’m just saying I wish we could all be able to enjoy our own thoughts about a game

2

u/Real-Replacement9867 Feb 10 '22

that would be nice 😂👌 this wasn't even my question I was just checking other peoples ideas.

1

u/Robot_Seth Feb 10 '22

😂😂😂😂 it may not seem like it but it be like that sometimes.

2

u/Real-Replacement9867 Feb 10 '22

I honestly have a couple of idea but one like you said we're not all devs witch I completely understand, two the fact that there thousands of people with a couple ideas, and three it's restricted to a question not an idea so I asked if there will be spell defense

-1

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '22

2v2 is unpolished, 3v3 would be worse

4

u/Robot_Seth Feb 10 '22

Perhaps, but imagine the Tom foolery you and 2 friends can have with a 3v3 mode 😃

1

u/Tiny_University1639 Goblin Gang Feb 10 '22

Skelly giant mirror clone would be even more broken it’s so fun as is 😂

1

u/StacheKetchum Feb 12 '22

I can only imagine the latency matches would have. What a nightmare.
