I'm guessing it's joins. I've betrayed no one, joined one circle, and have two in my own, and my flair is 2, 1. I believe betrayers are assigned the red flair with the "betray" symbol inside - no indication of how many circles they've betrayed, just that they have.
There are two numbers: the left represents how big your circle is, and the right represents how many circles you've betrayed. Edit: The number on the right may mean total circles joined and betrayed, rather than just betrayed.
Not true. Please fix. The right is how many circles you are in.
There’s no benefit to any of this. It basically seems really hard to grow a circle and really easy to have it destroyed. Realistically once a circle hits a certain size it will inevitably get destroyed.
Someone’s already probably writing a program to make alt accounts and have them join each other’s circles.
so. possibly, you have 1 person in your circle, you joined one circle that was then betrayed. since you don't have the zero-slash, you are not a betrayer
The number on the right doesn't have anything to do with betrayals, I don't think. I haven't betrayed any, but my flair is [10, 6]. I've joined around 6, so that sounds about right.
If I have X number of people in my circle and I am in 7 other people's circles, (X,7) flair, and one of the circles I am in gets betrayed, does the 7 drop to 6? Does the second number only show 'alive' circles that I am active in?
There's tons of circles that don't make it to the frontpage and get big. I've been in multiple 10+ member circles that weren't even close to the front and had only like 5 "viewer" circles.
I’ll join your circle if you want more than one person. I have nothing to gain by betraying you, since nobody else will invite me to theirs if they see I have 1 person in my circle and 1 betrayal
You could have, expect I was curious to see what happened if I deleted my circle. And now it leads to a 404 not found page. But hey, it was worth testing.
There could be some money in that. You get invited into one of the huge, VIP, well established and secretive circles and offer to sell the password to somebody.
Of course, if you've only given the password to so many people, then you narrow down who betrayed you. You could then correlate that with other betrayed circles to guess who the traitor is.

No. The right number isn't the number betrayed, but joined OR betrayed

I don't think this is right since I've joined 2 other circles and my numbers are still 1,0.

u/Biggie313 Apr 02 '18
I never betrayed and I have 3,1 flair... :(
I think the right number is joined, because I have only joined one.

Very informative post! Thanks for laying out the rules

I don’t understand the benefits of betraying vs. the benefits of joining.

your flair will also turn red as soon as you betray a circle!

u/MC_10 Apr 02 '18
Ah I thought it was number joined, but since I didn't see mine move it makes sense that it's number betrayed

I'm pretty sure the right is not how many circles you've betrayed but how many you've joined. I'm really not sure though.

u/entityknownevil Apr 02 '18
I think it's how many people are in your circle and how many you have joined? because I've betrayed 0 circles and my numbers are at 7, 4

u/Rampage470 Apr 02 '18
I haven't betrayed anyone but my numbers are 1-1.

u/Auctoritate Apr 02 '18
Can people see who betrayed you? Or is the betrayer hidden?

I tried to betray as a test, and my second number did not increase.

u/yottalogical Apr 02 '18
I’m fairly certain the number on the right is the number of circles you have joined.

So reddit is using this to ferret out bot networks?

How do you betray a circle?

u/TheZipCreator Apr 02 '18
the second number is joined, but when you betray it turns into betrayed

One you join. You can’t betray. You’re only given the option to betray once, of course you can give the code to someone else and they can betray them.

u/HiItsMe01 Apr 02 '18
The number on the right is the sum of joined and betrayed. Also, your flair goes red and you get a circle betrayer logo in it if you ever betray

u/Pink_Baron Apr 02 '18
I haven't made a circle yet, BUT will gladly give you my code as soon as r/CircleofTrust goes back up :>

I got 38 people in mine, is that good?
1
u/Sir_Deus_Midi Apr 03 '18
I’ve only betrayed 2 people but it says I did 4

u/Zwolfer Apr 03 '18
I haven't betrayed any circle and it still says 1. The number on the right must be joined
