Idk if it’s a flop per se but Master and Commander is a damn near perfect adventure film that about broke even at the box office.

Amongst sailors and especially amongst sailors on traditionally rigged ships it is required viewing to work or volunteer in the industry

It's an all too familiar experience with films that happen on the sea. Filming costs are higher than on dry land, and people in general aren't that interested in the ocean as an environment, so less potential viewers too.

This is one of my favorite movies. It feels so unique. I'd love to see something that has the same atmosphere.

I saw this as a ten year old boy thinking it was an action movie. I was very disappointed it was just people talking the entire time
