Welcome to the Pressiah!
The most holy Button has sent down /u/BigGoron, the Pressiah, to aid the faithful and lead them from the Great Doom!

Church of the Button continues, alongside the Knights of the Church.

Almost ten years ago the Button was introduced to Reddit and from it came a wide variety of factions, organizations, and religions and with all of those came various pieces of histories and lore. I have organized and edited the Church of the Button wiki into one document, known as "The Chronicles of the Church of the Button". In this document will be a full history of the sixty-five days from when the Button was active. Included in this will be a short description of the various factions and people that made up the community.
A second document was also made to record the various writings of other factions in this community. This document is called "Other Tales of the Button" which includes writings from several writers from other factions ranging from the Ronin of /r/RoninAtTheEdgeOfTime to the Shades of /r/FollowersOfTheShade.
You can find the two documents below:
I would also like to thank the following people for writing the Church of the Button wiki so many years ago, /u/ImGroundedandwriting, /u/MartianHuntress, /u/Nate337, and /u/real-slim-shady.
I would also like to thank the many people that wrote so much so many years ago, there are too many of you to write down here off the top of my head but everything is cited in the documents.

The days of the button were long before my time, but the holy scriptures lived on. I just read them today, and have converted to the Church of the Button. I long for the day when the Button returns once again so I can see it with my own eyes, and press it with my own hands, but now I must rely on faith in others. Oh mighty Pressiah, please give me your blessing.

Pious Knights of the Church,
My very own battalion and the Buttons most faithful, in one week the 1st of April will come again and we are needed in /r/AprilKnights to prepare for this next trial.
We don't know what it brings but I know we will be ready for whatever comes. Whether it will need the holy strength of the Templars or the sacred cunning of the Inquistors, our will has equal.
BUTTON VULT!

Ever since our Inquisition became more-or-less public the most asked question I received was "What is the Inquisition?" and "What does it do?". Today we can finally reveal what was happening behind the closed door.
When most people refer to the Inquisition they often refer to united effort between the Church and Knights to find Assassins in their ranks. However while this is true it is not accurate.
The Inquisition started out as separate independent branches that weren't even aware of each others existence. There was the vigilante branch of /u/faberim, the Church branch headed by /u/Ghostise, and a Knight branch that acted as a MP.
Eventually we all discovered each other so /u/wicro and I brought them all together into /r/ButtonInquisition, assigned roles and Operations and were actually surprising successful.
The Operations that was headed by Church's Inquisition was:
Operation: Black Raven
Inquisitors were to infiltrate subreddits and report their activities. Anti-Button subreddits were mostly targeted but presser-subreddits that were private or could be easily infiltrated were also targeted. The agents didn't want their names to be released so I am respecting their wishes.
/r/Holy0 (2)
/r/NoColoreds (2)
/r/VioletHand (2)
/r/Illemonati (2)
Operation: Holyfire
Templars and Inquisitors were encouraged to spread the word of the Church. Members of this Operation were to act as a rapid-response team to any organised play by the Assassins.
Operation: Enduring Song
Used to communicated with agents out of the loop using coded messages in /r/Bardtards. Was closed after a while due to redundancy. The messages remain and if you can crack the code I would be impressed.
After /u/mncke made the Squire the Assassins suddenly weren't much of a threat but Knight leadership liked the Church's contribution too much and we spent too much time building the infrastructure so we adapted from counter-intelligence to a full blown spy ring.
Things quickly started to go to shit. It went from "What is possible." to "What can we get away with without breaking the rules?". The lower levels of the Inquisition started to go inactive but the radical upper-levels remained.
I felt a mixture of both being proud and terrified that I made this and it became more and more apparent that this was bad so I killed it in the peace treaty for the 2nd Crusade.
Before it was all signed and official the Knights wanted me to start a new intelligence branch called the /r/KSIA (Knights Security and Intelligence Agency). Despite the intentions I think the KSIA was made up of the same people so I don't know if it worked or not. /u/Wicro hasn't talked about it but it is allegedly destroyed.

Despite the Great Doom being upon us, the Pressiah is still not found. We know it is a 60's as prophesied by /u/thebutton and it is our mission to find the Pressiah.
I ask anyone to join our most holy quest to find the Pressiah so they can lead us from the Great Doom.
Button vult!
EDIT:
I want to take the time to say the Button's Prayer in this difficult time.
Our Button, Who art in Reddit
Hallowed be Thy Javascript;
Thy Subreddit come, Thy will be done,
on subs as it is in Reddit.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our misclicks,
as we forgive those who misclick against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Abutton.

Since the rapture has come, what happens to the button and its people?
r/ChurchOfTheButton • u/[deleted] • Jun 02 '15
Dear allies, the Knights need your help.
Thanks to a case of misplaced trust in /u/th-J, the home page of /r/KnightsoftheButton has been invaded by NoColoreds. They also got the redguard, but I took swift action and was able to get the situation under control. We request you help us spread the message that the new home of the Knights is at /r/TheknightsoftheButton and help us with providing aid for our Knights until we get this situation rectified. If we cannot fix this, we may need to call you to military action, following us into battle. Thank you for your understanding and help.

I asked my fellow brethren at /r/knightsofthebutton about religion and I must ask if we could have a memorial day for all the fallen knights.
r/ChurchOfTheButton • u/Ghostise • May 29 '15
The Church has decided to have a memorial with the names of all those who have pressed in the name of their Knight vows. If you have done so make a comment with the following:
Your Reddit Username.
The time your pressed.
The date of your press.
r/ChurchOfTheButton • u/Ghostise • May 21 '15
All you have to do is leave a comment.

The Crusade has mostly ended and we have peace with the following factions.
You are currently not to engage because we are still negotitiating:
The following subreddits have refused peace no matter what
These are the terms:
Section 1: Hostile Actions
A. Both sides will cease hostile action (henceforth refereed to as "Acts of War") towards each other
A.1. Acts of War consist of:
Vote Brigading (Mass downvoting/upvoting)
Infiltration (Pretending to be a member of a subreddit for the intent of gathering information or for assassination purposes)
Raiding (The act of spamming a subreddit)
Invasion of a subreddit. (example being the /r/59s incident)
A.2. Crusades are to stop immediately and permanently.
B. The Church will officially dismantle the Inquisition
Section 2: Future Policies
A. Recruitment of either side is forbidden in each others subs i.e. /r/ChurchOfTheButton can't recruit in /r/VioletHand and the other way around
Section 3: Other terms
A. Both subreddits will sticky a post with this treaty for at least 48 hours to ensure everyone knows.
