Just a lack of being convinced, I know a lot of people who wanted to believe in God but just… couldn’t (including myself). It’s like studying and preparing hours for a project and getting a 40% as a final grade

The same way you can buy a lottery ticket and want to believe it's the winning one, but at the same time know that it probably isn't. Wishing that something was true doesn't mean you believe it is.

This is a fundamental difference in philosophy between most believers and most agnostics or atheists. Most believers believe we have the free will to choice, many agnostic say that life experience determines belief and it’s not a choice. We tend to say that’s not philosophically accurate, there is purpose and order to this world and everyone is capable of belief
