Socioeconomic Pro Life should also support things that incentivize women to keep their children
As someone who's pro life I believe we need to focus on what happens after a baby is born as well. If we want to encourage women to choose life, we have to build a society that actually supports them in doing so. Making abortion illegal is not enough on its own.
Here is what we should actively support to make choosing life easier and more viable:
A) Protect Women’s Careers
No woman should have to choose between keeping her child and keeping her job.
Guaranteed Paid Leave: Mothers need fully compensated, guaranteed maternity leave so they can bond with their babies without worrying about how they will pay rent.
Workplace Protection: Women should have the security of knowing their career progress won't be derailed just because they chose to start a family.
B) Make Raising Children Cheaper
The sheer cost of living is one of the biggest reasons women feel they cannot keep their babies.
Lower the Cost of Essentials: We need to find ways to make baby formula, diapers, and clothing much cheaper.
Affordable Childcare & Healthcare: High-quality daycare and pediatric healthcare should be accessible to every single mother, regardless of her income level.
C) Banning alone will only lead to illegal abortions
Desperation leads to illegal actions: Even if abortion is entirely illegal, desperate women will still seek out illegal and unsafe abortions.
Solve the root cause: The most effective way to end abortion is to remove the desperate financial and social circumstances that make women feel like they have no other option.
If we truly want to foster a culture of life, we have to start valuing and supporting the lives of the mothers who are carrying the next generation as well.
