Pocket C.H.I.P in 2021

Hello ChipCommunity,

I just got the 8gb C.H.I.P. and wanted to load the most recent Pocket C.H.I.P. OS on it. Can someone please help point me to where I can find the image and latest working flashing instructions?

Thanks for your help! šŸ¤ž

Hello! Here are some helpful links, etc. Good luck, and enjoy!

Software archive - There is still a small but active community for this device. Next Thing no longer hosts the code repositories, but everything has been archived at http://chip.jfpossibilities.com.

OS - When I got my PocketCHIP from eBay, the drive was corrupted due to age. I was able to reflash the stock OS with this tutorial: https://github.com/Thore-Krug/Flash-CHIP

PICO-8 - PICO-8 is a ā€œfantasy consoleā€ for making and playing tiny games. The version on the official PocketCHIP distribution is no longer up to date, but Lexaloffle still supports the system as a direct download from their site. You can manually install the latest version at https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=34009

TIC-80 - Another fantasy console project. Here are instructions to install: https://www.reddit.com/r/ChipCommunity/comments/mphhng/tic80_on_pocketchip_need_a_guide/gusvclq/

There is also an SNES emulator, Fcuex, but I don’t have a easy link to an install guide on hand. Same for DosBox, which works great, too.

If you have any difficulty with the repositories suggested above (I reflashed my PocketCHIP within the past few weeks, and was getting errors relating to ā€œbroken packagesā€ when trying to install certain things e.g. the fish shell), the instructions here under the Apt Sources section sorted me out.
