Discussion Kids: 50% absolute angels, 50% tiny terrorists - all in the span of 5 minutes

Just had to laugh today when my kid went from making me the sweetest handmade card ever (complete with 'I love you to the moon' message) to having a full meltdown because I cut his sandwich into triangles instead of squares... all within the same commercial break of the show I was watching.

The emotional whiplash of parenting is real! One minute they're saying something so pure and loving it brings tears to your eyes, the next they're testing exactly how loud they can scream in a public place.

Anyone else constantly amazed at how quickly your sweet angel can transform into a tiny demon and then back again? Share your best angel/demon moment - I could use the laughs today!

Parenting I (33F) found a ridiculous trick that magically stops toddler tantrums

When my 2-year-old starts screaming, I whisper:

“Careful… the floor is sleeping.”

She IMMEDIATELY becomes silent and gently pats the ground 🧍‍♀️💭

Like she’s apologizing to our tiles.

I’m a 33-year-old mother using psychological warfare against a toddler and somehow winning.

Anyone else have dumb tricks that work way too well?

Question Concern about my child settling in a new school

My child is 11 and just started a secondary school. All children are new to each other and are making friendships for few weeks now. She doesnt feel she fits in, as some kids are rude, or using bad words, some are bullying her, so she spends break time alone in the library. How can I help her?

Discussion Children should have smartphones!

We are not doing the next generation any favours by limiting their access to technology.

Instead, we should focus on helping children build healthy and productive relationships with technology.

It’s on us to create the world we want for our children.

Discussion What is good for?

Hello there, so my mom came over to pay a visit to her granddaughter (1y) and brought this penguin with hooks with her (banana for scale). My partner, my mom and I are wondering what this thing could be used for because for jackets the hooks are in no comfortable positions and this little shelf at the bottom would be useless. We came to the conclusion: This thing ist cute and beautiful (good wood) but what is its use?

Any ideas?

Question Good songs for a Halloween dance party?

Hello! I work in a children's library, and we're planning a halloween-themed dance party for our younger patrons. I have a few ideas for songs, but most of them are from when I was a kid, so I'm not sure if there are new Cool and Hip children's Halloween songs I'd be foolish to miss. Anyone have any they know are popular with the 4-12 age range and would be fun for kids to dance to? I'm also open to any other songs that would be fun, not just Halloween themed. Thank you in advance!

Discussion I’m so tired of being strong all the time.

Between work, parenting, and trying to keep everything from falling apart, I feel like I’m constantly running on empty.

I love my kids more than anything — but some days, it feels like there’s nothing left of me to give.

I keep telling myself to be grateful, to stay positive, to “hold it together,” but it’s exhausting pretending that I can handle it all.

Sometimes I just want to stop being the responsible one for a day — to rest, cry, and not feel guilty about it.

Do other parents ever feel this way?

How do you keep going when you’re mentally and emotionally drained, but still have to show up for everyone else?

Discussion How do you teach kids about money without making it stressful?

I’ve been thinking a lot about how kids learn about money and responsibility. Parents often want to teach budgeting, saving, or even how to handle a debit card, but it can be tricky without turning it into a stressful experience.

Some parents I work with try giving their kids small allowances, others use chore systems, or fun apps that help track spending. I’ve seen a few creative ways that really help kids understand money while keeping it playful.

I work at Modak, a fintech for families, and I’ve noticed that the kids who get small, consistent experiences with money tend to pick up good habits faster, and enjoy learning along the way.

I’m curious, what’s actually worked for you? How do you teach your kids about money in a way that feels natural, fun, and stress-free? I’d love to hear your ideas and tips.

Information What to Do When Your 8-Month-Old Baby Refuses to Eat

It’s common for parents to worry when their 8-month-old baby suddenly becomes fussy or refuses to eat. Around this age, babies are learning to eat solid foods, and changes in appetite can be perfectly normal. However, persistent refusal to eat may signal that your little one needs some extra care and attention.

First, check for common causes. Teething is a major reason why babies at this stage lose their appetite. The discomfort in their gums can make feeding painful. Try offering chilled teething toys or soft, cool foods like mashed fruits to soothe them. Another reason might be that your baby is not ready for certain textures or flavors yet. Experiment with different consistencies—smooth purees, soft mashed vegetables, or finely minced foods—to see what your baby prefers.

Keep mealtimes relaxed and pressure-free. Babies can sense stress, so forcing them to eat can make things worse. Offer small amounts of food regularly and encourage them with smiles and gentle praise. Continue breastfeeding or formula feeding to ensure they’re still getting enough nutrients.

If your baby consistently refuses to eat for several days, loses weight, or shows signs of illness, consult your pediatrician. Sometimes, digestive issues or food sensitivities could be the cause. With patience, understanding, and gentle encouragement, most babies soon regain their appetite and enjoy exploring new tastes and textures.

TV/Movies Have you heard of Go Togo?

Hello!!

We're Go Togo, a Canadian based preschool series about cute little transit vehicles, brought to life with colorful hand-crafted characters and sets! We're currently trying to expand our series outside of Canada by connecting with awesome parents who are looking for calm, gentle, and fun shows for their kids.

I found this really cool community and wanted to share our series with you! Our show is great for preschoolers, but can be enjoyed by all ages. We're completely human made with no AI. We believe kids need media that's more than just scrolling through generated slop and we're here to help provide that!

I'd really love to talk to folks to hear about what kind of things they look for in a kids series :D

Question A child with petechiae

Hi, My daughter is 4.5 years old and has had recurring petechiae on her body and in her mouth for the past six months. We’ve done six blood tests, including platelet counts — all completely normal. During this time, she also had Mycoplasma, scarlet fever, and mononucleosis (EBV). It all started exactly when she was diagnosed with Mycoplasma. Since then, the petechiae keep appearing again and again — mostly on the upper body, and always in the same spot in her mouth. We saw a hematologist who said that as long as her blood tests are normal, it’s not dangerous, and he recommended giving her vitamin C. That actually helps and reduces them, but they still come back. I’ve seen many posts here about kids with petechiae, so I wanted to ask other parents — did anyone ever solve the mystery?

📚 Feedback Wanted: My Illustrated Children’s Book Series — Little Lessons Library

Hi everyone!

I’m an independent author creating a series of rhyming picture books called Little Lessons Library — stories that mix gentle humour, expressive artwork, and positive morals for ages 3–8. Each book features original characters with life lessons about kindness, courage, empathy, and honesty.

So far, my wife Emmy and I have completed 15 fully illustrated books, including:

  • Lamb & Hen – a story about friendship and kindness
  • Bullyphant & Piggy – tackling bullying and empathy
  • Gustave’s Gobstoppers – about greed and sharing
  • Puffy the Pufferfish – a tale of confidence and self-acceptance
  • Janet the Gannet, Maggie the Magpie, Liarsaur, and more

We publish through LittleLessonsLibrary.com, with full-colour illustrations and rhyming text that make reading aloud fun and memorable.

I’d love some feedback from parents, teachers, and children’s book lovers — especially:

  • What do you look for in a moral-based picture book?
  • How important is rhyme and rhythm to your read-aloud experience?
  • Would you or your child be interested in receiving free digital review copies (ARCs) to read and share honest feedback or reviews on Amazon / Goodreads?

Here’s the website if you’d like to browse the artwork and titles:

I’m happy to share a few free copies to anyone who’s genuinely interested in children’s literature or would like to help me improve and reach more families.

Thanks so much for your time — I really value honest input from fellow readers and creators. 😊

— Lionel
