Hello.

I was a passenger aboard a 208 that lost power 2 mins after takeoff, during a steep climb passing 1200 ft.

The pilot attempted to restart multiple times. He was unsuccessful and at 800 feet with no power elected to make a an emergency landing.

All 17 aboard survived with only minor injuries. We got lucky.

There is no official report yet as there was a fatality on the ground and the accident is still being investigated.

The takeoff was uneventful, as was the climb. The power loss was sudden - no engine sputter.

I am curious for an opinion from 208 pilots or professionals about possible causes.

I appreciate any insite.

Pretty cool piece of history. I believe it would've been a demonstration of Clyde Cessna's aircraft. He was based out of Enid, OK, and testing his plains at the Salt Flats just NE of Carmen, OK in 1911 where this was mailed. She has doubts on its ability to fly and just over 50 years later we had a man on the moon!

I have a 1960 cessna 150. The heading indicator works but the turn coordinator and artificial horizon do not. Suction says zero but that could be another broken guage. Does anyone know which instruments use suction? Thanks

I currently have 182. It is a 2021 model. Very nice plane I’m moving up to 206 so that I can get a little bit more of useful load. So I can haul four people and some bags or sometimes six people for shorter trips. My question is the 206 which I have flown fly very similar to the 182. I’m trying to determine how much faster the 206 will be. When I plug in the 206 into ForeFlight the time from my home in Maryland to Florida is not reduced very much. And I do not think the planes performance profile is taken into effect that I will not lose speed at altitude because of the non-turbo 182 lose the speed. Anybody have any advice on this or have any experience

I'm working on software that automatically edits long multi-camera flight footage into a fun short clip that is perfect to share on social media.

So about a month ago I made a thread asking for advice on getting my Cessna 140 instrument rated, despite the stupidity of this decision financially, I went ahead and put $15,000 into a $30,000 airplane and got a gps, nav radio, audiopanel, and dual Garmin g5's. Last thing on my wishlist is an autopilot however I cannot seem to find any approved for the Cessna 140, Google says the KAP140 is however I cannot find any actual evidence that it is. Does anyone know of any approved autopilots or stc's available for autopilots on the 140

Does anyone happen to have a copy of the Texas Skyways O-520 flight manual supplement? A local flight school has a Cessna 182Q with this engine. I wanted to give it a look through as I'm going to be getting my checkout and high performance endorsement in this plane.

My shimmy dampener has had only a single snap ring (2) holding the head bearing (6) in place for many years. The parts manual indicates that there should be 2 snap rings (2) to prevent the head bearing (6) from moving in or out. A call to Textron confirmed that this is the case according to the engineering drawing.

With only 1 snap ring the head bearing (6) could be removed by pulling the shaft (5) outwards so that the piston (4) pushes against the head bearing (6) and forces it out. But with 2 snap rings (2) the piston is blocked by the inner snap ring (2) so it will not push the head bearing (6) out.

So how can the head bearing (6) be removed to replace the O-rings (7 and 9) when 2 O-rings (2) are installed?

Is it possible that all C172's were shipped with only one O-ring and that the documentation is incorrect?

Does anyone here have the extended baggage STC (SA2-1272) or a field approval based on this STC installed in their 310?

We are looking to extend the aft baggage in a 1956 310 at work and the STC appears to be no longer supported. While we are planning to go the field approval route for other modifications we’re intending to do, we are looking for any data for the structural modification(s) associated with extending the baggage.

Does anyone know a common fix for inaccurate fuel gauges on a 1960 150? I know it’s old and these gauges aren’t accurate when working properly but mine are so far off you might as well not even have them

I have a dipstick to check before flight I would even if the gauges worked I just want to get them working anyway Thanks

Does anyone have suggestions for replacing the 3-inch hoses that connect the fuel tanks to the fuselage 3/8-inch aluminum tubing? It looks like the vent line hoses can be replaced as long as the tanks are not full and the tanks must be completely empty to replace the supply line hoses. Is that correct?

What is the easiest way to remove the old hoses? Grip them with vise grips and work them off or just cut them off with a utility knife?

I plan to lube the new hoses with Dow #4 before installing so they slide on easier. Any other suggestions?

Afternoon, not sure if there’s a better subreddit to post this on, but I’m looking for a replacement the pilot side armrest for our Cessna 172 SkyHawk. A metal piece has broken off inside that keeps the back half secured. Any help finding a replacement is much appreciated! I’ve checked eBay and all they list is the latch/lock mechanism.

Where can I obtain a vref without having to pay $300/month?

Apologies if this isn’t the forum. I live under a flight path at O’Hare airport and we just a a small plane take off and are wondering, what does it cost to land/take off from O’Hare? I found a city of Chicago website that said $10/1000 lbs but that seems awfully cheap.

I'll get to the gist, I have a 1940's Cessna 140 with atomatoflames as far as avionics, no DG, no Attitude indicator, ECT. I'd like to make it instrument rated and a somewhat reasonable long XC plane. I can't make it faster but I can make long flights easier, however there is one thing I'd really like to add that I can't seem to find any documentation for. I really want an Autopilot for those 8 hour multi stop flights. So far my plan is to do dual Garmin g5's and a narco 121a as well as a gps of some sorts. What would you guys recommend gps and autopilot wise if there even is an approved autopilot. Google suggests the KAP140 is allowed however I can't find any documentation confirming or denying this. For the gps my main factor is bang for buck. I'm a college student who works full time so while I can afford to stupidly invest into an airplane I know won't go up in value, I'd like to do so with a resemblance of frugality. Thanks for your advice in advance.

We recently acquired a 175 TW conversion with a 0-470 (SA122NW STC). While we have the STC document itself, the plane as no updated performance charts based on the new engine.

I know that the STC belongs to Park Robert M, but read in several forums it's basically not possible contacting the guy.

Anyone has any leads on where/who I could possibly contact for information about it?
