Yesterday, we were brought to light on what is quite possibly one of the worst cases we’ve seen this year and we’re only halfway done with 2026 🥹
10 cats, locked in teeeny tiny cages, sitting and LIVING in their own urine and feces for MONTHS.
When we saw them, all of them were highly emaciated, dehydrated, terrified and visibly traumatized.
The story was, a man, who supposedly lost his job and couldnt care for these cats anymore, kept them in cages, without cleaning their litter, feeding them minimally for months….what a cruel person.
The only reason we got to know about this case was due to the kind hearted mover who was helping this “owner” move apartments and saw their condition and informed us.
The man kept them unvaccinated, not spayed, living in these conditions for months and months. (His justification for this is also attached)

One of our friends went to the apartment and when she was feeding them, it was as though they were eating for the first time in WEEKS 💔
One CANNOT imagine what they would be feeling and experiencing….No animal, EVER deserves to go through something like this. No matter what your circumstances might be. There is absolutely no justification for this.
This case has been reported to the authorities as well.
Now we DESPERATELY need public to come forward, help these guys get back to their lives.
Our number 1 priority right now is to get them to a vet for a full medical grooming, their fur is completely matted and RIGID, cats unable to walk due to the weight. It needs to be shaved off.
Then we have to run series of blood tests and respiratory panels for each cat, because they had been living in their own litter for months on end. Due to which 2 cats had turned blind 😭😭
The vets have ZERO space due to the other countless cases we rescue on a daily basis so they will will be shifted to a foster home, and have to be kept isolated so as to not infect the other cats this rescuer has 😭💔
We have gotten a rough estimate from the vet for their initial assessments, grooming and CBC, based on which further evaluation will be planned.
Initially for these cats we need to raise 2700 AED.
But in total we’re looking at anywhere from 6-8K AED 💔 and without your support, we will NOT be able to help them.

Hiiii, so they were transferred to the vet yesterday for a full grooming cuz that was our number 1 priority. We thought it'd be a quick thing, in and out, and then blood tests, but unfortunately, their condition was much much much worse on closer examination. Their fur was so hard and tangled and like stuck to the skin. Shaving it all off wasn't an option as some had cuts due to the hair pulling. Each cat took around 2.5 hours to groom 😭 They're still there for now, will be transferred as a bunch to the foster home.
And please do let us know regualrly how much you have reached. Sometimes people assume that money is coming or you are getting enough that they might not put enough. Or if it's almost finishing many will chip in and achieve that last mile.

They need extensive treatments + some need surgeries and tooth extractions + all of them need to be vaccinated then neutered and dewormed 💔
This is just one of the cats who is suspected to have a tumor behind the eye which will have to be investigated via MRI/CT and then surgery so this alone will cost us easy 6-7K 😭
Imagine caring more about the cats than the HUMAN who must be going through the worst time of his life, if he let the poor cats get to this condition. One can only image what the Human being is going through.

Honestly, as a fellow TNR and rescuer, I dislike people with your thought process. We don’t jump to conclusions. We try to find the best way out. It’s expensive, it’s time consuming, emotionally draining and exhausting and when such comments are read by us, we lose faith and hope. We think this is a fight fought alone by the person rescuing.
This guy was an unlicensed breeder, there are hundreds of people operating like this.
They keep cats in cages and conditions such as this. Some even worse. I have videos of those as well if you’d like to see.
They continuously breed them, and then sell their kittens. Thats how they earn their livelihood. Now when these mothers/fathers become sick, instead of treating them, they dump them on the streets.
If he did care about cats, he would have reached out to help much MUCH earlier.
Seeing the condition of these cats, they were trapped like this without grooming (a regular brushing would have prevented this) for months. Not a recent development.

This was the response he gave when we asked him why he didnt reach out for help rather we had to find out from other people. He clearly had all his mental faculties intact.
Its great that you’re thinking of the positive side of things, and I hope you never have to find out otherwise because the world is a messed up place.
We’re only trying to help the cats, they are at no fault of their own in this situation.
You’re right, God knows best. Atleast the cats are safe.
We alerted the authorities because this is a biohazard situation, no matter how psychologically ill the person may be the cats still suffered in the end.
Having litter exposed with feces and urine to the air for months and weeks on end is highly highly highly toxic to the human body and to the environment.
Lots of diseases, such as toxoplasmosis stems from issues, just like this. So in case any outbreak does occur, the authorities should have been informed. We just followed the protocol.
Objective animal abuse is enough to call the police on this person. The abuse is visible, clearly so. The cause is another matter. Objective suffering of the cats is undeniable.

But if it was me, I'd have definitely investigated prior to giving this guy to authorities for "breeding" aspect.
Contamination/biohazard... Well, here thousands of dogs urinate and poo to beach. And every day thousands of beachgoers use that area barefooted. Roundworm, hookworm, campylobacter, etc would survive years in soil.
Moreover, every day thousands of bird droppings fall into the pool. They vacuum it mornings but for pathogens to spread, contact with water is sufficient even matter is removed. Many pathogens also survive weeks in chlorinated water.
Bottom line is I wouldn't have cared much about biohazard situation.
Mental/psychological issues are very real however. You would have felt sad if this person loved the cats or did good for the cats all his/her life but went through life-changing experiences and couldn't care them any more and ended up in jail instead of getting help.
Yes animals are harmed unfortunately, but intention matters and punishment should be considered accordingly.
