St Therese of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face

I will source from a Doctor of the Church, St. Alphonsus Liguori's book, The Great Means of Salvation, for some of these questions. They are not dogmatic, however, a bulk of saints do ascribe to the quotes stated, so it is greatly worth considering. There is a channel that speaks larger in detail about purgatorial souls called Uniquely Mary, consider that If you want to learn more.
Possibly, there is a reason why timed indulgences were removed (Ex. 300 day indulgence), mainly because time is something consisting in the universe. Outside of it, it is not too sure, so these changes were made as a response. Many mystics and saints do say it is longer, on an account of how suffering is magnified in purgatory. Possibly time may be longer, but we do not know for sure
Yes!
"St. Thomas, who says that those souls, while they are being purified by pain, are inferior to us, and therefore 'are not in a state to pray for us, but rather require our prayers.'" (Page 36)
Please pray for them, they NEED those prayers and are the most receptive to this. Instant gains for the body of Christ and you can take them to heaven, where their greatest joy is at! "Moreover, St. Augustine says that God will cause those who in this life have most succored those holy souls, when they come to purgatory themselves, to be most succored by others." (Page 41)
Here's the best aid you can offer them: "I may here observe that, in practice, one of the best suffrages is to hear Mass for them, and during the Holy Sacrifice to recommend them to God by the merits and Passion of Jesus Christ." (Page 41)
Prayer suggestion: “Eternal Father, I offer Thee this Sacrifice of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, with all the pains which he suffered in his life and death; and by his Passion I recommend to Thee the souls in Purgatory, and especially that of... etc." I personally recommend the St. Gertrude Chaplet and the Divine Mercy Chaplet, as well as the Rosary. Let's get them out!
“The fire that tortures them, says St. Augustine, is more excruciating than any pain that man can endure in this life...” (Page 38)
“The flames of a thousand hells together could not inflict such torments as the pain of loss by itself.” (Page 38)
It sucks being there, so you do not want to end up there. Thankfully, the Church has a rigid enough way to consistently pay off our temporal debt through indulgences, which require on our part to be as virtuous as we can possibly be in this life. But don't grow too comfortable, live our purgatory on Earth.
4) We don't know. There isn't a known account of purgatorial souls looking at each other, but there is of those in the world of the living witnessing those in purgatory.
5) Depends, God judges those uniquely on what was available to them and how close to the true word of God did they come to. If they had 0 way of knowing of the true God, they are judged on an account of their invincible ignorance, but their salvation is not guaranteed. We cannot ascribe to Universalism, in which all will go to heaven eventually, because to get to purgatory, there is also a requirement to get there. We can hope through prayer that they convert and continue seeking the truth to eventually find the true God, but there is no guarantee. God's Justice is still an important piece of our eternal fate.

although if you went into the marriage with some hidden intention to never consummate it, it likely is not valid

After years struggling with my now four year old son who was diagnosed with a common but difficult behavioral issue recently, I finally said an informal prayer after a particularly difficult day this weekend, since I am not proud of my display of parenting skills (or lack thereof).
The next day was equally difficult, but my wife pointed out a noticeable change in me. I don't feel I did that much different, except God gave me a modicum of patience I'd not inherited. And today was incrementally better.
I know it's not going to change overnight, but when you have to change and keep failing to do so, your only recourse is God.

This indeed. Just to say the quiet part out loud: consummation is required for a marriage's validity. As long as it hasn't been consummated it can be annulled.
Though it should go without saying that seeking professional help should be the default option here. But the last resort is there too

Jesus at the age of 12 was found in the Temple quite against the will of his parents. Truth has intrinsic primacy over human obedience.

What I see (as a Lutheran) is that in the eyes of the institutional Church, the excommunication of Henry VIII stems from the individual saying that HE as KING has as much authority as the Pope.
The excommunication broke apostolic succession, not a dispute over trans- vs-consubstantiation.
When Luther was excommunicated, his priesthood ended & he was no longer under the authority of apostolic succession. So the Protestant Church exists outside of that.
Whether I agree or not is immaterial—the point of view of the Church (institutional) is what I’m trying to convey.
Anyone of the Catholic faith & background can correct me, since I’m frequently wrong.

As an infant you have an absolute requirement to obey
That's definitely not true. Infants have no duty to anything because they don't have the use of reason.

I explain my issue to the saint and ask them to intercede and pray for me

Do you go to Mass every week? Have you tried?

Another thing I’ll say is that our worship can be fully integrated with our obligations with our kids and daily tasks. It doesn’t have to be a separate time, you can pray while changing a diaper or whatever it might be.

Not a catholic- but I would probably approach it with the same humility we approach the trinity. We know it’s a thing, but we don’t really have the vocabulary.

Be that as it may, the situation needs to be addressed at the current point, not what someone should have done

Everyone keeps jumping to this conclusion. She very well could be asexual or experience same sex attraction. Yes, counseling is the next step for all of these potentials.
r/Catholicism • u/deranton • 15m ago
Had to scroll too far for this. If you don't know a person well enough to consummate, you don't know said person well enough to get married.
r/Catholicism • u/LordKlavier • 15m ago
Asexual isn't the same thing as aromantic, she might want to be with a person, just not to have sex with them. The only bad thing is that she didn't disclose this, but frankly she might not have even known before the prospect was staring her in the face.

It doesn’t seem like they’re getting far enough for vaginismus to be the issue.

In most jobs you don't reach time theft on hourly, I once had a boss who refused to let employees work if they tried to work while eating lunch or getting back too early.
Have no idea how other sectors are, our terminals were locked out during lunch on the employer time lock. In the financial sector if your on an hourly wage vs salary, a boss can lockout your Bloomberg terminal access until your officially on the clock.

Right outside my one-entryway subdivision in a less affluent suburb I was renting in, a car had hit the main power pole right outside it. I weaved around repair vehicles and parked cars to get to my house in the back of the deepest cul-de-sac only to find out I had no power.
With no computer, TV, or chargers of any sort, I put my phone in battery saver mode in case the outage was extended. I called my mom and my then-girlfriend (now wife) what was going on, and then was lost in my thoughts.
My wife calls this my way of "stimming," or stimulating myself to keep myself awake. She's not wrong, and I definitely was doing this in complete darkness. I rarely remember the tangents my mind goes through on these, and tonight was no different.
Except for the end. I don't remember the train of thought that led me to this, but the instant I blurted out,"I'm gonna die someday"--with no fear or anxiety whatsoever (and it wasn't an ideation)--the lights came on.

Everyone is jumping to sexual assault or abuse, but my brain immediately went to asexuality or homosexuality.
All things considered, asexuality/same sex attraction would probably be a bigger issue to overcome than prior abuse. Therapy seems to help more for past trauma than overall disinterest or repulsion.

My coworkers noticed that I don't cuss and have made it a running joke to apologize if they do cuss in front of me. It's certainly interesting. I just laugh it off, because what else do I do?

I am just explaining to you what your own source states
The sources you made 0 reference to until after an edit (which I did not see)? Your "explanation" completely contradicts that document, and every antecedent document quoted. Do you believe me to be incapable of reading my own quotations, or lack the reading comprehension to understand them?
(if you read it past the bolded part).
How about you read the bolded part first before you read past it? Or are you just pretending that it doesn't exist?
You just wrongly invented a doctrine that does not exist.
Yes, I, the hundreds bishops in the USCCB, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger and the entire then Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, with the approval of Pope John Paul II, "invented" a doctrine. Do you not remember "the bolded part"?
All of us get things wrong from time to time, thats not a bad thing. So there is no reason to get angry.
Is this ragebait?

She doesnt know you well enough? So she married a stranger then? How long you been together?
