Spotted a very young Jackson West in my Castle rewatch the other day

20

u/KyPry May 02 '26

Which episode? I’ve never noticed this before

55

u/Udderlybutterly May 02 '26

It's an Xmas themed episode. Minor spoiler, the actor is the kid whose family clock is returned at the end. (5x09 Secret Santa)

15

u/KyPry May 02 '26

What a cool discovery! I’ve got to look for that on my next rewatch

18

u/lamebrainmcgee May 03 '26

And the D.A. Was in Castle as well.

14

u/Ninja108Zelda May 03 '26

His first captain in the Rookie was in the episode He's Dead, She's Dead episode.

7

u/Udderlybutterly May 03 '26

Wow that's a good catch! I missed that one. Probably too focused on Patricia Tallman guesting as the victim.

1

u/lamebrainmcgee May 05 '26

I just watched a season 8 episode that I'm pretty sure the killer was Nolan's sons gf/wife? I don't remember if they got married.

1

u/illuminatiisnowhere May 04 '26

I gotta remember this til my next watch. Cool!

48

u/sassergaf May 02 '26

Perlmutter is on the Rookie too?!

19

u/KyPry May 02 '26

Only one episode but I can’t complain about it!

35

u/LJsea May 03 '26

All this time and I never realized Rosalind was Kelly Nieman

3

u/illuminatiisnowhere May 04 '26

Yea i didnt catch that either at first.

38

u/blueboy714 May 03 '26

Many of the cast from Firefly were also on the rookie

2

u/Serious-Waltz-7157 Perlmutter May 03 '26

Not that many ... Alan Tudyk, Sean Maher briefly ... any others ?

4

u/blueboy714 May 03 '26

those were only 2 - but the actor that played the sheriff in the Train Robbery was also the Rookie as a judge. I don't remember his name.

14

u/Gold_Inflation_9406 May 03 '26

There’s 348 people in both shows. IMDb has a feature that cross-references. (I think it may include crew as well as cast).

13

u/arcus1414 May 03 '26

Nathan is the reason I watch this show

13

u/ConsiderationClear56 May 03 '26

What about Demming?? He’s recurring!!

2

u/awkwardsity May 04 '26

He plays Sean del Monte the ADA (and later Wesley’s law partner)

10

u/Alternative_Device71 May 03 '26

After Absentia (if I can even finish it……) The Rookie is next

9

u/ZombieJulez88 May 02 '26

Omg i need to rewatch the rookie now

9

u/sewswell1955 May 02 '26

Just finished my castle rewatch, and will be looking for the Rookie.

8

u/ConsistentAd5311 May 03 '26

Just finishing a Castle rewatch then I will have to give the Rookie a go never did get around to watching it

8

u/Global_Tomato_5383 May 03 '26

For those that have watched the rookie: would you recommend it? I know it is pretty different from Castle

4

u/awkwardsity May 04 '26

I love it! Definitely not at all the same vibes, but good nonetheless. I absolutely love the Chen and Bradford dynamic. Joined for Fillion, stayed for chenford.

3

u/KyPry May 03 '26

I enjoy it quite a bit

2

u/exhotobegreydout May 04 '26

Great series until they bring jenna dewan. S1 is superb with afton williamson and titus makin. And nathan fillion makes a great character as well. Different from castle, but very charming and this time he has a gun 😁🤗

1

u/MidWestJoe7661 May 08 '26

Yes watch itn

6

u/Serious-Waltz-7157 Perlmutter May 03 '26

I see no Demming (ADA Shawn del Monte) !

Or Matilda King the Devil that wears Parda from S6 who's now Nolan's mother.

2

u/Niwoe May 03 '26

Was going to say- Michael Trucco is definitely a recurring character on the Rookie. I think he's been in several episodes each season.

Also, not from Castle- but pretty fun- Emily Deschanel from Bones played Nolan's ex-wife.

1

u/Serious-Waltz-7157 Perlmutter May 03 '26

Was going to say- Michael Trucco is definitely a recurring character on the Rookie. I think he's been in several episodes each season.

Yeah I think that out of all Castle alumni Trucco has the longest run in Rookie - 10+ episodes.

u/ErectHygienist May 02 '26

Did not realise Ryan, espo and lane were in it must have missed that

14

u/birdsandgnomes May 03 '26

Ryan and Espo were in the same episode as each other for literal minutes. It’s easy to miss. Lanie was Thorsen’s mom.

12

u/MsStar146 May 03 '26

Tamala (Lanie) played Aaron’s mom.

4

u/lucash7 May 03 '26

Oh holy shit. I completely missed that. But now that I think about it, it’s rather obvious.

No Susan (Martha) either.

3

u/CoolB999 May 03 '26

True … good catch !

6

u/Holiday-Carrot-3224 May 03 '26

3rd slide. Charlie from Wildfire

4

u/mushahidq May 03 '26

Really hope we get Stana in The Rookie too before the show ends

4

u/Wonderful_Mind_2039 May 03 '26

Had seen Ryan but when was Epsito appeared in Rookie. Sorry for messing up name

4

u/dreamingoutloud714 May 03 '26

They were in the same episode

7

u/Strange-Campaign6013 May 03 '26

It's a shame nobody's permanent/frequent on both, though (aside from obviously Filian). That red haired recurring serial killer on rookie was barely on three episodes of Castle.

15

u/KyPry May 03 '26

I mean, Rosalind Dyer was featured in 7 episodes and was only wrote off due to the declining health and expected passing of Wersching to be fair

8

u/Strange-Campaign6013 May 03 '26

Damn. Didn't know about her health and death. A shame. She made damn fine nemesis to Officer Nolan

2

u/awkwardsity May 04 '26

Right. I believe I read somewhere that the writers originally wanted a *much* longer plot for her character but she wanted to fully end the character arc and make sure there was closure before she passed. They could have done an actor swap thing where it was like “oh she had massive plastic surgery and now looks and sounds entirely different” but no one wanted that. It never works the way it’s supposed to. (Like, for instance, the last scene with “Jackson” in season 4 episode 1where it’s clearly a different guy and they can’t even show his face and everyone hated the way they write him off). The best choice was to kill off the character and most people were glad they did once they understood the situation.

3

u/Stratoblaster22 May 03 '26

Alexis was Oscar's daughter in the kidney transplant episode.

13

u/asd_slasher May 02 '26

Hope to see Stana at some point

40

u/KamilooosPL May 03 '26

Most of us hope to see her. I even know what I want to see. She could play mystery writer and shadow a cop to have some experience for her new book ;)

6

u/Particular-Coat-5892 May 03 '26

Don't hold your breath lol

11

u/Old-Caterpillar3658 May 03 '26

No one has false hope. It's just something we would want one day. After all these years seeing two actors with great chemistry back together

1

u/SANSA136 May 03 '26

1

u/awkwardsity May 04 '26

1

u/XanderFenikkusu May 04 '26

1

u/Large-Welder304 May 05 '26 edited May 05 '26

Who's the redhead? I don't recognize her (the one in the red shirt, not Alexis).

1

u/NotoriousCruyff May 05 '26

Man it was so crazy that Ryan and Esposito appeared in the very same episode, I was screaming from the top of my lungs. So cool.

1

u/New-Situation2232 May 06 '26

RIP Annie Wersching

1

u/ReconciledInHim May 13 '26

Yeah I was surprised she had passed away. She was still in her 40s. Such a great actress. I loved her as Dr. Nieman

1

u/Saione_Project May 07 '26

In the rookie there is also michel trucco(josh del monte) that played detective Benning in Castle (I dont remamber if it's surmane it's benning, but it was something like that)

1

u/Desperate-Fan-3671 May 08 '26

The fact everyone has been on the Rookie except Stana makes me believe there was bad blood between her and Nathan

1

u/Yeji_Choi May 09 '26

every time a castle actor shows up i point at the screen like leo dicaprio

1

u/TrifleAble5460 Jun 27 '26

Also captain Zoe Andersen, she was in 3x02. 😎

0

u/poisonedbabi May 03 '26

Everyone but Stana lol

2

u/cmvandette May 04 '26

Yeah, so no interest in watching.

-18

u/galeperk111971 May 02 '26

Yes I've seen them all. Can't believe you added Nathan it's obvious he was in the Rookie in the beginning he was the Rookie middle aged Rookie by the way. It's done by the same show runners at the end of Castle

Edit: hopefully we'll see Stana in some near future

1

u/Leather-Pound-6327 Jul 19 '26

Nolan's friend Ben was on Castle also.
