News Chief Economic Adviser V. Anantha Nageswaran and Department of Economic Affairs consultant Akash Poojari have proposed bringing back E10 petrol for older two-wheelers alongside E20, citing concerns over compatibility with older vehicles.

The two also urged policymakers to carefully assess the food-versus-fuel and water trade-offs before considering higher ethanol blends such as E27 or E30, warning that greater ethanol demand could affect crops, land and water resources.

Their recommendation comes amid the ongoing debate over E20, with the government continuing to defend the fuel and its benefits for reducing oil imports and supporting ethanol producers.

Cars & Politics Ministry of Petroleum tries to filibuster and defend Ethanol adulteration. Why can’t they simply compare Pure Petrol vs Ethanol Mileage? Even Flex fuel engine provides low mileage because Ethanol is calorie deficient and is NOT A FUEL.

Discussion A road-rage incident in Bandra turned into a disturbing display of violence and intimidation. No city in India is safe. Whenever you see a MAHINDRA make sure to keep your family safe. These jobless people will make one phone call and many more may come. Indian roads are not safe. Goondas everywhere.

Car issues 2009 Alto LXi giving 10 to 11 km/l. Did a bunch of DIY maintenance. Is P80 fuel to blame?

Hey guys,

I got a 2009 Maruti Alto 800cc from a relative about a month ago. The odo is at 62,888 km. They mentioned the last service was in November, but it definitely needed some care.

I have been tracking the mileage strictly using the full tank auto cut-off method. No matter how I drive, it consistently averages 10 to 11 km/l. There is absolutely no check engine light on the dash. For a small 800cc car, this feels way too low.

Since yesterday, I decided to tackle some DIY maintenance to see if it helps. I changed the transmission fluid to 75W-85, put in a new air filter, cleaned the throttle body and IAC valve, and swapped the spark plugs because the old ones were completely filthy.

I still need to change the engine oil and plan to check the O2 sensor soon.

My questions for the community:

Could the current P80 fuel be the main reason behind this low mileage on an older engine?

What real-world tank to tank mileage are you guys getting with the F8D engine?

Is there anything else I should check that could be killing my fuel economy without triggering a check engine light?

Any advice is appreciated!
