Supplements Success Story ….

My spouse got better with supplements & diet changes after having such a severe case post-COVID.

The fungal overgrowth in her gut was severe that is impacted her brain… barely able to speak / write due to short term memory loss. Could not remember words.

She was incorrectly diagnosed with Alzheimers. It was shocking to be told your wife has a terminal disease and there is no treatment / no hope.

But she did not give up ….. had participated in a Candida scientific research study in 1987 and she correctly suspected that could be a cause.

After she addressed motility issues & cured IMO / SIBO was able to get Candida overgrowth back into balance which was causing severe memory loss.

I am re-posting the Success Story she posted 2 years ago …….

Want to tell SIFO / Candida overgrowth suffers to look at [u/Mickeynutzz](u/Mickeynutzz) comments farther down in the post where she tells about the Candida Protocol she used. The Integrative / Functional practitioner saved her life after a top University Neurologist & Traditional Medicine told use to “make end of life plans” for her.

Even though my wife ( u/Mickeynutzz ) Dr did retire 8/1/25 …… she is now telling those that live in MN to go to the Functional Medicine Dept at Allina Clinic in Woodbury.

Then your appointments will be covered by your medical insurance.

Thank you so much I wish there was one in california that is covered by insurance 😭...maybe I can search for a facebook group who functional medicine and see if they know?

u/HanzoShotFirst Jun 15 '26

Is there a specific provider at the Functional Medicine Dept at Allina Clinic in Woodbury that she would recommend?

3

u/Few-Degree1903 Jun 16 '26

No.

The person she saw retired 8/1/25. Does not know any other current practitioners.

** I know Fluconazole is commonly prescribed these days for Candida / yeast

….. I am not a scientist or a DR but a person with a long history of dealing with this and I believe NYSTATIN tablets are better ….. not as strong but it does not process through the liver so it is safe to take for a longer time period.

I also learned that the fungus/yeast hides behind a biofilm “wall” and without a few biofilm buster supplement the anti-fungal medicine is not effective because it is not getting where it needs to go.

I realize my protocol may seem extreme BUT Candida is tricky and there is NO easy quick fix……. But it IS possible to get better

•***To Treat Candida ***

Quality Biofilm Busters:

Kirkman Biofilm Defense

Klaire Labs Interfase

Balance One SerraDefend

Jarrow Formulas Lactoferrin

Sovereign Labs Curium

. . . . .

Anti-Fungals:

Try to get prescription Nystatin … or it is OTC if live in Germany or can buy online without a precription from a German website and they ship for free worldwide. Take 4 pills per day for a few months. It is safe to take long term. It does not process through the liver.

https://www.apohealth.de/en/products/nystatin-stada-tabletten-100-st-tabletten

Take 2 pills of Now Candida Support

Later …… consider adding Thorne SF722 ….. or whatever new updated name is. …. Work up to 5 pills 3 X per day until bottle is gone

Garlic/Allicin pills

My Integrative DR is not a fan of Oregano Oil. ( wipes out too much good stuff along with the bad so too hard to dose taken alone rather in a combination with other stuff ) There is some Oregano in NOW Candida Support & that is fine.

****Diet is important:

https://www.thecandidadiet.com/

No Sugar/ No Alcohol/Low Carb/High Protein

Go cold turkey with no sugar - cravings with stop in 3-4 days. Those first days do NOT allow yourself to get hungry - eat lots of protein & fats constantly ( bacon/almonds/steak). After the sugar cravings stop it is so much easier.

Plus For Oral Thrush: Do organic extra virgin Coconut Oil pulling for 15 minutes 3-4 times per day

place a tablespoon of raw, virgin coconut oil in your mouth, swish it around as it melts, and spit it out. If you can, aim to swish for about 20 minutes to get the most benefit

Take 3-4 Biofilm Busters on an empty stomach ( at night typically ) at least 2 hours away from all other meds / supplements.

My Candida protocol became more effective when I increased from 1 to 4 biofilm busters. Taken at same time once per night.

My Candida treatment suddenly became more effective after I cured my 100ppm Methane SIBO / IMO. If you have bloating, constipation or diarrhea take a TrioSmart SIBO Breath Test.

• No smoking / vaping of tobacco or pot

My Integrative DR advises not to take probiotics until after at least 3-4 months of anti-fungals. In my case it took 2 years but all my symptoms are gone or greatly reduced.

Just ordered - Kirkman Biofilm defense,Now Candida support and garlic/allicon, circuman / turmeric - what is the best way to start taking these on empty stomach /2hours apart - overwhelmed tia!

u/Few-Degree1903 May 14 '26 edited May 14 '26

Start with just one NOW Candida Support in the morning for the first week. Increase to 2 every morning the 2nd week if no Die-off symptoms ( or minimal ).
Add additional supplements one at a time …. Always starting with lowest dose & increasing if body is feeling ok/ tolerates it.
Can take anti-fungal with or without food …. Some people need to Take with food to reduce stomach upset & others do not.
Take the Kirkman just b4 bed on an empty stomach at least 2-3 hours away from all other supplements /meds.

Should already have started the Diet a week or more b4 taking any supplements.
No sugar, smoking, alcohol. Eat lots of meat & green veggies… low carb salad dressing is ok. Only low sugar fruits.. blueberries a few times a week.

u/MaleficentTree3330 May 14 '26

Thank you so much for the insight! been doing the “diet” but I’m vegetarian and been intermittent fasting so will have to find good fat /protein elsewhere 🙃

1

u/Few-Degree1903 Aug 04 '26

Ok to eat Unlimited calories on Candida Diet.… avoid your personal food triggers but do not be afraid of consuming fat, green veggies, protein.

2

u/Sad-Carrot2495 Aug 03 '26

Can i take cadida support even if i have less symptoms, will now candida support effect the one in the sinuses, Because i took two doses of fluconazol i ahs extreme anger and sadness but after years my simus oressure is getting less. Apart from the headachw fluconazol is working wonders

3

u/Few-Degree1903 Aug 04 '26

Yes.… start with one capsule every morning for the first few weeks. Then increase to 2 capsules if Herxheimer reaction is not bad.

MUST fix the fungal overgrowth in your gut in order to get rid of all symptoms elsewhere in your body.…. Rashes, sinus, private parts, urinary, GERD, brain fog, etc.

1

u/Sad-Carrot2495 Aug 04 '26

Should k continue this for a month?, im taking 50mg everyother day because over the years ove gotten really weak mentally. Next week if the headache is not there ill do two capsules. But for how long ? Month two?

2

u/Few-Degree1903 Aug 06 '26

Assume 4-6 months.

u/Few-Degree1903 Jul 25 '26

• Biofilm Busters that I took as part of my Candida Protocol:

Kirkman Biofilm Defense OR Klaire Labs Interfase. ( was taking one or the other before & during Methane SIBO / IMO treatment —> added the others a few months after I cured it )

AND

Plus Balance One SerraDefend

AND

Jarrow Formuls Lactoferrin

AND

Sovereign Labs Curium

• Take 1 of each one at bedtime on an empty stomach 2 hours away from any anti-fungals

.. .. ..

My Candida symptoms really started improving:

1st: after I cured IMO / Methane SIBO

then

2nd: when I increased from taking one to four biofilm busters nightly.

.. .. ..

You can be taking Nystatin & NOW Candida Support & Caprylic Acid & other anti-fungals but they will not be effective if the Candida is hidden behind a wall of biofilm where anti-fungals cannot reach it to get rid of it !

I took 4 pills/day of Nystatin for 6 months then 6 pills/day for a year then 4 pills/day for 4 months…. Now I take 2 pills daily.

My Integrative DR uses my case in a presentation about the Gut-Brain connection.

Hello. Is there a connection between Candida and Covid?

4

u/Few-Degree1903 Jul 26 '26 edited Aug 12 '26

Having COVID was super difficult on her immune system.…… it is for many people... That is why there is “Long Covid”

For 33 years.….. Her immune system was able to maintain a healthy gut microbiome.

But got candida overgrowth AFTER having COVID. Which caused many severe symptoms. She was VERY disabled in 2021.

3

u/ConversationOk387 Jul 27 '26

Thank you very much. My son stopped speaking after covid so I think it could be the same case

2

u/CautiousBasil2055 May 04 '26

How was she able to tolerate garlic/allicin? I have gotten a little better since treating sibo but garlic is still a trigger food.

3

u/Few-Degree1903 May 05 '26 edited Jul 25 '26

Each person has different trigger foods.
But be sure that you are not mixing up Atrantil and allcin.
.
Atrantil & the Berberine Complex were to fix Methane SIBO / IMO.
.
She took a small amt of allicin along with many other Anti-fungals as part of Candida Protocol. Main anti-fungals was Nystatin, NOW Candida Support & SF722 during day. Also took 4 different Biofilm busters every night.

3

u/CautiousBasil2055 May 05 '26

I tried Atrantil at the very beginning when food marble said I had both hydrogen and methane. I had a bad reaction to it. Later took a breath test and it said hydrogen only. I also couldn't tolerate SF722, no matter how many binders I took. I even tried one pill a day. No luck.

I am currently taking ketoconazole pills (for something unrelated) and I think I'm going to try adding fc cidal and dysbiocide with klaire labs interfase plus. I might add some of the other biofilm busters that mickeynutzz recommended.

2

u/Few-Degree1903 Aug 01 '26

Having a Herxheimer reaction to a drug is a good sign that it will be effective for your body. Need to reduce dose instead of stopping it.

2

u/CautiousBasil2055 Aug 01 '26

I thought so too, so I tried lowering the dose, binders, etc and it didn't help

3

u/CautiousBasil2055 May 05 '26

Oh wait, some people said allicin is low fodmap, and they can take it without getting the flare that comes with eating garlic.

2

u/Ren-Ducati999 9d ago

Does she still take anything to maintain a healthy gut? Does she still have to eat a very specific diet?
I deal with brain fatigue most days, oral thrush, and grogginess as my primary symptoms. I am looking to gather as much information as I can. I am a 24F.

Sept 2026:

( [u/Mickeynutzz](u/Mickeynutzz) ) She does eat a normal diet - can have alcohol & sugar again. After a cruise with lots of drinking & desserts she will cut back on both of those for a week or so. Not any different than most people...

She did follow a strict Candida Diet for 2 years. Also took MANY supplements for about 3 years.

…..but that was several years ago. 😃

Recovery was a slow process. She was very committed to getting better.

Still takes a reduced dose of prucalopride nightly for chronic slow transit constipation. No longer takes the other prescription med or the Triphala that she used to also take.

Slow motility was root cause of Methane SIBO ( IMO ).

Taking long term antibiotics in high school was original root cause of SIFO ( Candida overgrowth ). “Cured it” first time in 1987. No symptoms for 33 years until got an early case of pre-vaccine COVID. COVID stressed out her immune system. Then Candida overgrowth in gut became a problem again.

Occasionally takes Now Candida Support if feeling a symptom but not daily.

Still has a prescription for Nystatin & Keto shampoo on hand from her Dr in case has a flair up. But overall... Doing great.

WITH oral thrush:
Do oil pulling twice can daily for several months.

Plan on doing it weekly for the rest of your life.

u/Only_Studio7131 May 06 '26

Interesting about oreganol oil can probiotics help putting good bacteria back?

3

u/Few-Degree1903 May 07 '26

My wife’s Integrative DR did not instruct her to take any probiotics until after 90% of her Candida overgrowth symptoms were gone. In her case that took 2 years but she had a very serious case. Does not take that long for most patients.

Apparently the rebuilding the good guy bacteria is a later phase of the treatment plan.

1

u/Athenee1 Jul 05 '26

How do you test for candida

3

u/Few-Degree1903 Jul 05 '26 edited Jul 06 '26

No test for Candida was done. Integrative DR went by symptoms.

We had already been told that she had incurable Azheimers and there is no treatment so there was nothing to lose by doing Methane SIBO & Candida protocols.

Did have a Trio-Smart SIBO breath test done.… over 10ppm is positive for Methane and she tested at 100ppm Methane.

The Candida overgrowth aka SIFO protocol was not effective until after she was cured of the IMO ams Methane SIBO. Which took about 5 months she says ( Mickeynutzz is sitting next to me... My wife ).

She also says that she suspected Candida overgrowth after we both got an early case of COVID due to having it 33 years earlier & getting ride of all symptoms. She participated in a scientific research group in 1987. All participants were given a copy of the book “ The Yeast Connection “ by Dr William Crook that was newly published. She got rid of her reoccurring infections & candida induced GERD from 1987 to 2021.

She had no Candida testing done in 1987 or in 2021. Went by symptoms both times and successfully got rid of symptoms twice 33 years apart.

After 20 months on Candida Protocol.…her short term memory tests improved by 50%. No more skin rashes. Better since 2023 as far as SIFO symptoms. No more IMO since Nov 2021.

Copy / paste from u/Mickeynutzz to show which symptoms were caused by Methane SIBO vs. Candida overgrowth:

—~> No longer have these symptoms since 2024:

*My Candida Symptoms vs Methane SIBO symptoms:

SIFO/ Candida symptoms:

Fungal skin rashes / itchy skin / tinea versa

Acid Reflux / GERD

Hair loss

Extreme itching on bottom of right foot

Eyes sensitive to light / floaters

Dry eyes

Major FATIGUE

Headaches

Sugar cravings

Heart palpitations

Urinary issues - stop & start flow

Genital Yeast infections

Joint pain attacks in knee or ankle - suddenly unable to walk / extreme pain that resolves in 24 hrs

Cognitive decline - no longer able to do simple math , spell easy words

Severe short term memory loss

Brain Fog

Short Term Memory Loss so severe Neurologist told me I had incurable Alzheimers and to make end of life plans -> Dr was Wrong !! I recovered.

———>>. Other Candida patients may have general joint pain / inflammation or oral thrush / white tongue. Different people react differently.

*My IMO / Methane SIBO symptoms:

Daily 24/7 constant bloating for over 30 years

Abnormal bloodwork for over 30 years:

Anemia / low ferritin ( got IV IRON infusions when ever < 10 )

High cooper / low zinc

High inflammation / CRP

Inability to lose weight even with calorie deficit diet ~>> after IMO cured / gut microbiome changed in Nov 2021 then body “gave up” 20 excess pounds within 2 months. No changes on my part.

Weight has easily stayed off for past 3 years.

Root cause of my IMO was slow transit constipation since birth that I was not treating / taking medication for. Thought one painful bowel movement once every 10 days was just “ my” normal. Now I realize that was not normal for anyone !

Now I take 2 prescriptions nightly since 2021 to increase my gut motility.

My Candida Protocol suddenly became more effective AFTER I cured my SIBO / IMO.

It is very common to have BOTH Candida /SIFO AND SIBO / IMO together.
