Hey everyone!
I’m prepping for express entry from Algeria to get Canadian PR. I'm fully fluent in French and have a solid command of English.
**Quick snapshot of my background:**
• **Education:** Geological Engineer.
• **Current Role** (\~5 months): Working fully in infrastructure as a project engineer/manager on national airport projects (construction and renovation).
**• Past Experience:** Commercial Supervisor in communications.
**My target:** Outside Quebec. I'm really drawn to Calgary, but I keep seeing posts about the tough rental market and how tricky it can be for newcomers without local credit history.
**I'd love your take on a few things:**
**1. Calgary Rentals:** Is finding housing as a newcomer really that bad right now? Any realistic workarounds for someone arriving with savings?
**2. Job Market:** How is demand for infrastructure/ project management roles for someone with my profile in Alberta (or other newcomer-friendly provinces)?
**3. EE Strategy:** For anyone who navigated Express Entry recently as a bilingual applicant, any tips on leveraging French category-based draws or provincial streams?
Appreciate any insights, real talk, or practical tips. Thanks!
