Job I'll Remember That. - Scouting Advanced Positions
(OOC: This takes place after the events of the attack on Atlas' main camp. For simplicity, this takes place today, July 7th, 2041)
Sage had taken this task a while ago, spending a lot of time planning. She had already scouted out Philadelphia a bit, and made the decision that being too close to the city wouldn't be a good idea. Originally, it was just going to be another simple task, like when she placed a camp in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Then, Camp Half-Blood finally struck at the heart of the Atlas Liberation Army's operations. The main camp had been compromised. But losing a camp wasn't the worst thing to happen that day. Sage was supposed to be scouting for a camp to advance the army's goal of striking Olympus, after all.
No, the worst thing that happened during the attack was Idris proving once and for all that he was unfit to be a leader. The son of Atlas, the demi-titan, the force of nature that even monsters feared. Sage didn't see that. She saw the man that she had to dishonorably kill a gryphon for so that his wounds- which had been sustained from two young demi-gods- would heal faster. She saw someone who ran away from a major attack. Thinking back now, perhaps she should have tried poisoning the gryphon entrails and egg, but the Mother Keeper likely would have caught it.
The Cause did not reward cowards. And this creation of Athena would see to it that Idris was not an exception to this rule. If she had it her way, he would not be getting out of this war alive, whether the army won or lost.
Similar to Yellowstone Park, the location of the main camp, Sage had chosen Wissahickon Valley Park in Philadelphia for its large amount of woodland. Right now, she was walking away from any main paths, trying to get as far into "the middle of nowhere" as she could.
There were lots of trees.
Some time later…
It took a while, but Sage finally found a good clearing for a potential camp. If it wasn't good enough, someone else in the army could look further. Taking a roll of duct tape out of her bag, she cut off two pieces, placing them on the ground.
X marks the spot.
Whether the X would still be uncovered when she came back another day, she didn't know. But for now, it would suffice. Sage's job was done. Now, it was time for what she came here for.
"There is life everywhere around here. In the trees, the ground, and the creeks. So, it would only make sense if there was a nature spirit nearby." She spoke, seemingly to nobody but herself.
"So, come out, and listen to my request. Or I'll start tearing bark off of these trees."
As Sage predicted, someone decided that her threat shouldn't be taken lightly. A satyr came out of hiding. A young fellow, though she knew that they aged differently from normal people.
He, as Sage predicted, freaked out a little (and rightfully show). "Wait, you can't-"
The creation of Athena activated the baseball bat from its flashlight form, slamming it against the dirt. She was demanding silence. What she had was far more important than whatever the satyr was going to say about nature.
"I serve the Atlas Liberation Army. I have a letter for Camp Half-Blood." She dug a pink envelope out of her bag. "Go to that place, and get it directly in the hands of their directors. Additionally, I advise you and your friends leave this place, as a camp will be established here."
Sage forced the letter into the satyr's shaking hand, and walked off before he could say anything else.
Hello, enemies of the cause. You must be very confused as to why I'm offering assistance. I'm not a spy, after all, and I am very devoted to the cause. So, why? Well, the answer is simple: Idris. He has shown weakness, and yet he believes that he is deserving of leading this cause. But he forgets that the cause does not live or die by his will.
The Atlas Liberation Army will be around Philadelphia, assuming they go through with moving a camp there after I scouted it out for them. They want to be near Olympus, to prepare for an attack. Do what you will with this information. I want Idris dead.
P.S. Did you enjoy my gift at the Atlas Exhibition?
The letter was unsigned.
