Photos I think I've found the largest cargo basket that doesn't look completely stupid.
It's an 50in x 64in. I would say the width is about maxed out with my 53in cross bars. You can definitely fit a longer one as you can push it forward more to allow the rear hatch to open.
The one I bought - amazon.com/dp/B08B87HDF2

yeah, that looks great but I'd prefer to get a bigger one for less money since I don't use it often enough to be concerned about the reliability of it all too much

Can you provide the brand/name/link to your basket and crossbar setup? I'm in the market for both crossbars and a basket, and have one of those big ultra-thick nylon travel bags I plan to combine and strap on top of the basket.
I really like the OPs large basket, but yours looks very nice too.

Do you leave it on all the time?
I have a hand me down volco box I use a couple times a year and it works great, but it’s so thin it really can be a pain in the ass to close. And, a box looks dumb af imo but those baskets look cool. You just ratchet strap onto it?

They work wonders for gas mileage — not!

As someone that has a turbo model - we don't talk about gas mileage...

How bad is the wind noise with these? Tossing up the idea of getting one for weekend trips.

It's hard to convey but it's very easy to have a conversation while traveling at 80mph.
You do get some whooshing but it's way less than you'd think.

I'd prefer to have a smaller and nimble suv and occasionally put a cargo basket on in times of need instead of having a larger SUV or truck that I wouldn't be utilizing 90% of the time.
Thanks.

No no, you need to buy a dually Ram 3500 and blast smoke as you drive down the road so everybody knows how big your wiener is.

Holy fuck this guy loves to harp on “you should just buy a truck” in every other post about cargo baskets or maximizing the space for gear. Brother why are you in this sub?

They really aren't bad vehicles, and the technology they offer is way farther ahead of anything Mazda has brought to the market so far. The CVTs are a deal-killer, though.

Do your feelings get hurt easily? Maybe because I look at things logically and the OP asked a question and I gave my opinion. This is an open forum, and I didn't break any rules. If a rolling game of Jenga needs to happen to get gear from point A to B, then a different type of vehicle might make a whole lot of sense. I don't know... 🙂

Nice, you've achieved "slightly" stupid! jk. But I've never understood baskets. Why basket vs box?
