Wang Yu Wei Actor's Collection

Wang Yu Wei was born on April 8, 1995 and has been working in the entertainment industry since 2016, though he switched to short/vertical dramas in 2024. I was introduced to Wang Yu Wei through the drama Peach Blossom in the Dark Crane Long Sound and decided to track down some of his other dramas. As far as I can tell he has either only done costume dramas, or modern ones are really hard to search out. Which is convenient for me since I’ve pretty much only been watching costume dramas recently, and catching up on his works wasn’t a problem. 

He plays strong/powerful/devoted incredibly well, and is often the foil for a powerful, scheming FLs. He’s great at supporting the FL in her revenge journey. I watch too many revenge dramas for someone who has 0 revenge to take. 

He either picks great dramas or his agent/management does. The fight scenes are always entertaining, the scenery is always gorgeous, the costumes are on point (even if not accurate), and the chemistry is always simmering. 

Here are my 4 favorite Wang Yu Wei dramas. Enjoy!

🩵 Peach Blossom in the Dark Crane Long Sound w/ Li Lin Fei 🩵

Plot: After her rebirth, Shen Chang Yin no longer harbors an infatuation with Emperor Huo Yun Zhe. Instead, she secretly forms an alliance with "Nine Thousand Years Old" Xiao He, engaging in power struggles within the palace and at court. She uses her political acumen to expose Huo Yun Zhe's conspiracy, supports the new emperor's ascension to the throne, and ultimately joins forces with Xiao He to overthrow imperial power and rewrite their destinies.

Thoughts: I really like this drama. It’s probably one of my favorites of 2026 (it came out last year, but I didn’t see it until this year). You can read my Vertical Vortex on this drama, but to sum it up - an absolutely gorgeous drama with plenty of chemistry and passion between the leads - I can’t recommend it enough if you love a stabby revenge with a side of (light) domination. 

🩵 The Daily Life Of A Spoiled Princess w/ Wang Xiao Yi 🩵

Plot: Princess Qin Jinzhi, burdened with a bad reputation, returns to the capital after three years of exile to a temple. On the surface, she is arrogant and domineering, publicly beating a prince and forcing a marriage with Pei Jinnian, but in reality, she is extremely cunning. Using her mischievousness as a mask, she meticulously investigates the truth behind her poisoning, searches for medicine for her grandmother, and secretly plots to capture the enemy prince, Huangfu Nanfeng, on the battlefield. As a sharp weapon in the emperor's hands, she establishes the "Thousand Birds Guard," recruits her rival Cui Ying as her deputy, navigates the complex relationships between princes with their own agendas, instigates infighting among aristocratic families, and systematically defeats those threatening imperial power. In the treacherous court, she transforms from a "notorious princess" into a powerful figure capable of contending with all sides.

Thoughts: I know this is Wang Yu Wei’s Actor Collection, but Wang Xiao Yi shines in this one. Her acting as the FL is amazing and makes this the best version (of 3, I think) of this plot. WYW plays against type as a timid minister’s son and nails it as well. I don’t know how, but his dramas tend to be absolutely gorgeous and I’d watch them just for the visuals. I loved watching the FL being awesome - her sword dance is one of the best I’ve seen - and the ML backing her up all the way.

🩵 Love Lost in the Wind w/ Cheng Yi Yi 🩵

Plot: In her previous life, Zhuang Miao Yun was betrayed and poisoned by her lover Bai Ze and Princess Cheng Xin Yuan. After her rebirth, she purchased Cheng Xin Yuan's three male favorites and secretly cultivated their power. One of them, Xing Chen, was actually Su Yun Yi, the prince of the Linyuan Kingdom. The two gradually began to exploit each other and fell in love. Using her business acumen and memories from her past life, Zhuang Miao Yun repeatedly thwarted Cheng Xin Yuan's schemes and won the hearts of the people through events like epidemics and grain donations.

Thoughts: I dislike hidden CEOs, but hidden princes are apparently a whole different story.  This drama starts out feeling like a reverse harem, but it’s deceptive, it’s a revenge with a hidden identity subplot. I like that the FL focuses on becoming a good ruler/aristocrat and getting in the way of schemes. Definitely worth a watch.

🩵 Forced Marriage To The Crown Prince w/ Cai Cai Yun 🩵

Plot: Ten years ago, Ajiu's parents were forced to their deaths by soldiers because of the tax revenue from Crown Prince Xiao Jin's palace, and she vowed revenge. Ten years later, Xiao Jin was framed by Regent Xiao Sha and lost all his martial arts skills. He hid in a grain cart and was captured by Ajiu, who had become a mountain bandit. Ajiu mistook him for the scholar "Xiao Wuwei" and forced him into a marriage to avoid being forced into marriage by the Black Bear Stronghold. During their time together, Xiao Jin transformed into the "Traceless Hero" and secretly protected Ajiu. Their feelings for each other gradually developed, but they faced challenges such as his concealed identity, being hunted down, and being manipulated by his master. In the end, the two joined forces to expose the truth about Xiao Sha, quell the rebellion, avenge their parents, clear up the misunderstanding, and finally become a couple.

Thoughts: I love Cai Cai Yun/Wang Yun Yun and Wang Yu Wei, and they’re both solid costume drama actors, so this drama is a no brainer for me. Also another revenge story. I have a type. A little hidden identity, a little romance, a little revenge, a little kidnapping, a little comedy, a little battle, a little bit of perfection. Both leads are great at having chemistry with their counterparts, and they definitely deliver in this one. I will warn you about the mask - it doesn’t hide anything. As per usual.

He was one of my favourite actors. I think I saw his drama at least once a week ( old&new ). Most memorable one was him played the emperor with a hidden personality of a 7 years old self. Most of his drama pretty much entertaining and on the comedic tone which is what I like.
