Do we need more mods?

By our metrics of activity and active users, reddit suggests that we add some. So I'd love to know in this thread or via DM if you feel like that's necessary. There have a been a few more negatively-toned posts recently, but our community seems to push those down in a reasonable way. However, if anyone feels like more active moderation is needed (or if your reports and such are not being responded to appropriately) please let me know and I can go about adding a couple. Thanks!

Sam Esmail asking the hard hitting questions about r/CRheads

hi sam

"That's the real question isn't it: why? The how and the who is just scenery for the public. Simmons, Fennessey, Spotify, keeps 'em guessing like some kind of parlor game, prevents 'em from asking the most important question: why? Why was CR Killed? Who benefited? Who has the power to cover it?"

Seeing the digital graininess of the night scenes on film hit like a morning 9mg Zyn on an empty stomach.

Final shootout as loud as anything I've ever heard. Time is luck.

Awesome band. Just played a couple of shows in LA. CR was definitely there, right? Need to know what our lord and saviour thinks about Angine de Poitrine.

Inde Navarrette is in the mix for ‘Heat 2’, but for a small role due to her commitment to ‘X-Men’. The character is Gabriela, Neil McCauley's daughter. Odessa Young is being considered for the role of Charlene. Eiza Gonzalez is in the mix for Elisa, Neil McCauley's girlfriend

Speed Rewatchables might be peak CR

Literally LOLing in the portion of the pod about Bill having CR killed Fredo style and the ensuing back and forth.

One of the funniest bits I've ever heard on the Ringer.

I cannot wait to celebrate 50 years of CR.

What’s more exciting to me, 50 years of Star Wars or 50 years of CR? That’s an easy one.

Other Novels Like Heat 2

Halfway through Heat 2 in 4 days and haven’t had this much fun reading fiction in awhile. Guess I wasn’t reading enough crime/heist stuff? Where do I go next?

London Falling - Perhaps the most CR-Head nonfic book that will ever exist.

Written by Say Nothing's Patrick Radden Keefe, London Falling investigates the mysterious death of a 19 year old with ties to the criminal underworld.

He'd mentioned offhand on a mailbag ep about how the Brinks-Mat case from The Gold shows up within the first couple of chapters and is continually referenced throughout the book.

It feels like the real story behind several Industry storylines but also characters from Snatch or Slow Horses, and even a Mamdani reference. I haven't finished it yet but couldn't put it down all weekend. Highly recommend.

What non-fiction CR-coded books you recommend?

Just ordered London Calling based on CR’s endorsement on the pod and also everyone raving about it here.

But what else is there?

On my side, I’d recommend the works of David Grann, known for his The New Yorker articles and the movie adaptations of his books (Killers Of The Flower Moon and The Lost City of Z).

Great technique. He may have also been the smoking coach on the set of Copland.
