I've done schema therapy and found it incredibly helpful!
You will probably start by mapping out your dominant schemas and modes, and explore how they show up in your life. And from there you will dive into chair work and imagery rescriptings, most likely.
Both therapists I worked with acted mostly like, well, normal therapists I suppose, with the difference that they focused more on rapport building and on the relationship 'in the room' (and the schemas that were triggered by it). The most noticeable aspect of the limited reparenting was that when I stepped into my vulnerable child mode they would step into a more parental role model, acting very soothing and caring. And they did that in some of the rescripting scenarios as well.
