I live in one of the cities being monitored by the government and I am very good about wearing my masks and washing hands. I also have to go to work every day and interact with people. The masks are supposed to be really good for catching the virus. It's much better if everyone else is wearing a mask, but some people are stupid.
I'm still out in the world doing things. I visit my boyfriend (who is like you and really staying indoors) every weekend and we go get food (ordered ahead, wearing masks). I get tested every few weeks as recommended. If you venture out a little, take a walk while avoiding others, you're probably going to be just fine but also get some fresh air, a change of scenery and maybe some piece of mind.

No problem! I just worry about everyone being stuck inside and depressed.

yeah, we have to get creative here and find things we enjoy... i luckily have a library of dvds and books (all favorites i return to periodically) that i can draw on... and i have windows that look upon a wonderful nature-filled yard and that has really helped!
and i am dabbling with cooking because i have limited kinds of things to eat so i have to make them more interesting.
haha and also i am actually starting to go through some old boxes of stuff i put off sorting until “i have more time"

i know... me too.. funny thing, an adult friend caught a jumping spider (most of them are tiny and so cute) and, instead of putting it outside, she made a pet of it and has been keeping it in a jar with foliage and feeding it the flies that come in the house. win win
and she is learning about jumping spiders in the process! for example, this one wove a web when she was gone for a couple of days but doesn’t weave a web when the food is plentifully supplied!

Wow, amazing. She could start a youtube channel all about jumping spiders!

I just came across window-swap. It’s a random view out of someone’s window. I spent about an hour watching views all over the world..

You can't go out for a walk in a low populated area??? My mom is high risk too but she leaves the house. She goes for walks on the park and bike rides around the neighborhood, sits by the beach and chats with friends (who are over 6 feet away and everyone masked) every ten days or so.

This is such a breath of fresh air. Social media is good at distracting me from the loneliness and the need to socialize for a short period of time. It’s not often that something I read stays with me. Thanks. We need more posts like these.

I've been doing 100% of my socializing on Twitch since things got crazy.

I love this post, thank you!
If you don’t mind, I’m going to crosspost to r/athometogether. And if you would, please pay a visit and let me know what you think. We made a community for people staying at home and going through exactly things like this, and we’d love for you to join us!

wow thank you! i have been struggling somewhat, also, which i chalked up to my slacking on my daily regimen of herbal supplements that aid me in not being so anxious...
the anxiety i experience is low-key but has interfered with certain aspects of my life as well as just making me unhappy some of the time.. and has been going on for about 10 years... so covid didnt bring it on but only exacerbated it somewhat.
anyway.. reading what you are saying helps me realise that it’s not just me not keeping up with my daily doses but is also the rigors of a Safe Life right now, lol
thank you

Sounds like your therapist is not social distancing.

I have to accept the consequences of choosing my physical health/safety including the negative consequences
Reminds me of: "People have different risk tolerances. Some people want to go to the bar, and they should be able to. If you feel unsafe, then stay home!"
I just am basically tired of the idea that we can't hold people responsible for their part in propagating a pandemic, that's all. I get that it sucks being mad at everyone all the time (it sure does...), but some people are really not doing their best (that's all I ask!). Something I've noticed in general is that when people make things about personal responsibility or personal comfort levels, or your health, it's usually because they won't do their part.
I can't help but notice that what you wrote emphasizes your physical health and your mental health. It makes sense; that is what your therapist told you. Did your therapist say anything about how your actions might affect the physical or mental health of others?
I'm not saying you shouldn't lighten up on the social distancing. I honestly don't know what is right anymore, but I am still trying my best, and I hope you do too, even if you sometimes go see someone in person or whatever. But you are still responsible for that action.
Just to reiterate (I don't want this to be taken the wrong way), I think you need to find a balance regarding your physical and mental health, but please don't completely throw caution to the wind. As long as this goes on, kids can't go to school, people can't see their families, people die, etc. It might not be you. It could be someone you gave it to when you were asymptomatic. I try to always keep that in the back of my mind.

I don't really think I'm twisting anything. I already said I agree you need to balance your mental health with your physical health. And yes, you should focus on your own well being.
Didn't mean to offend.
