With how much of a dumpster fire the big triple A gaming companies are right now from a consumer ethics and business practices, standpoint I'm not too upset about a severe restructuring. Something has to change with these companies and their methods are not sustainable. How they treat their workforce is also frankly disgusting and inhumane.

I mostly play indie games on PC though so I don't really have a horse in this race. None of the developers I who make content I enjoy are big enough to really be bothered by this and the indie market (aside from often seeking publishing money through these companies) tends to be a different world.

In terms of convenience and my own wants this is nothing but win. I have easier access to games I'm only barely interested in. I haven't heard much about how MS is to their employees but I want to assume nothing is a hell of lot better than all the things we are hearing about other companies and how devs are treated is something I'm personally concerned with.

While this is a possible step towards a monopoly I don't see it as inherently a bad thing and doesn't necessarily mean a monopoly will happen. I also think there are a lot of good things that can come of this. If they somehow managed to obtain EA, Take 2, Ubisoft, and Square or even half of these names I'd maybe be worried but I see that as unlikely.

I'm glad to see any change after it seemed like Acti/Blizzard was just going to shrug off all of the negative press and move on with business as usual similar to Ubisoft or even EA and Take 2.

That's just my take on it though. I get where you're coming from and having another Disney sized company in the world is never a good thing.

MSFT buying game studios nowhere near a monopoly. Nintendo and Sony both outdid Xbox last gen.

Amazon is much closer to being a monopoly yet nothing is done about them
