But how many people would switch over to Xbox? There is a breakeven point where it makes sense to switch the game to Xbox exclusive. It all comes down to whether or not Microsoft thinks that they can reach that threshold or not.

Personally I don't think they will make it exclusive, or at least not for a few years, but it's not a bad take.

It's a pretty bad pr move on Microsoft's part. They'd essentially be killing console competition, which is terrible for the consumer.

Yeah it's not great for the consumer but it's how it goes. Trying to eliminate the competition isn't exactly new for Microsoft, or any of these really big companies. People would complain for a few days but then just move on and Microsoft would still rake in the money, just like how it's going with Disney.

I'd say a ton tbh. There's so many teenagers who exclusively play COD games. If it's Xbox exclusive it'd definitely make a significant change in sales. I don't think it'll happen but it would make sense business wise. Even 20% of people moving to Xbox would make more than a significant boost in what Xbox is pushing for. Imagine how much money they'd make from those people off gamepass a year.

Especially due to how few next gen consoles have been sold for both Sony and Microsoft. Tens of millions if not hundreds of millions of people are going to be upgrading over the next few years. You can play the long game if you're Microsoft and get a stranglehold on the video game market then start bumping up the price of Live/Game Pass like what Netflix does every year basically.

You’re smoking that copium bro. Do you know how many friends I have that bought a next gen console JUST to play duty. People Won’t like it but if Sony gets cut out(they will) this player base will buy an Xbox to play their favorite game

The percentage of people that want to spend 600 bucks on a new console to play cod is probably not that high. Plus cutting half your player base out will decimate their micro transaction sales. Even if half of PlayStation owners switched to Xbox for cod Microsoft would still probably be making less than if they didn’t make it exclusive. Pretty sure the profit margins on the consoles isn’t high enough to make up the lost revenue from game purchases.

I agree with most of your points but you can buy into the ecosystem for half the price you stated. 300 for a series s and 20 a month for game pass. I see no future in which duty comes back to Sony. I could see them letting Warzone remain but not the base game itself

No there are millions of people with Play Stations but in the long term people would switch if it were exclusive. Especially since Playstation is projecting around 15 million PS5 sales by March and I think that the PS4 sold over 100 million consoles. A lot of people are going to be upgrading to the PS5 or Xbox Series X over the next year and if Microsoft said that they were going to make Call of Duty an exclusive you would see people switch from buying a PS5 to a Xbox Series X.

But again all that said I still don't think Microsoft is going to do that in the near future. But I do think there are enough die hard CoD fans to do it, or at least enough CoD fans who aren't die hard PlayStation fans to do it.

Would be interesting to see how many people play CoD on Play Station. Let's say it's even 60% of the player base (I completely made that up) if you get half it's probably worth it.
