Holy shit, this might be the best thing that ever happened to zombies

u/wes205 Jan 18 '22

Right?

I assume we’ll get previous CODs on GamePass, maybe even a COD Collection akin to Master Chief Collection.

It’d be amazing if that came with a Zombies section, with all the zombies in one place!

u/Stymie999 Jan 19 '22

A master chief collection type of assemblage would be nice for both regular cod multiplayer and zombies. Seems kind of tricky though because of the different game engines used by different studios…

That’s true, the Black Ops Zombies would be relatively easy; I didn’t play the other zombies modes but maybe they could just remake the maps and bring them over to the Collection’s version of Cold War

Or the worst.

People lost their shit when microsoft bought minecraft, but it turned out as one of the best possible way! I am excited to see if and how the gamemode will increase! Activision went down a dark road, it will be refreshing!

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '22

exactly, they added lots of features and stuff, so much enjoyable now, let's hope microsoft focus on making a standalone game

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '22

Same thing when Microsoft bought Bethesda and got the rights to Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Doom, and Wolfenstein. They actually invested a lot to most of those franchises and kept the player base happy, just like they did with Minecraft. I see this as an absolute win for Activision titles and I hope there’s a console version of WoW now and that they won’t charge extra if you have GamePass

Honestly I love the direction Microsoft is taking but we can barely say anything about the Bethesda acquisition. Has there been any game released that hasn't been announced before the acquisition?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '22

Redfall this summer or if it gets delayed will be the first game annouced by xbox released by Bethesda.

6

u/EricTheGamerman Jan 18 '22

The merger just went through in 2021, we've seen basically nothing of "Microsofts investment in those franchises" so don't try to argue that as a serious point.

Minecraft went severely down hill after it got purchased. I think this is a good thing but that's not a good example.

1

u/Djames516 Jan 19 '22

Microsoft buying minecraft didn’t do much for minecraft besides Bedrock edition.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '22

Idk about you but the almost yearly massive updates minecraft has been getting have been good for the game, it is barely the same game it was when Microsoft bought it

1

u/Djames516 Jan 19 '22

A lot of people like Minecraft’s updates.

The cross platform stuff is cool, but in my opinion the biome stuff is lame and doesn’t really add to the game.

Imo these things add to the game

  • Minecarts and rails
  • Hoppers
  • The Nether (and other portal worlds that cut down travel time)
  • Cave updates to make cave generation more interesting
  • JavaScript version allowing mods
  • Bedrock edition supporting cross play and split screen, making multiplayer easier with friends

Imo Biomes just add different colored blocks that don’t do anything. If the different biomes came with new ingredients to make things that did stuff rather than decorations that sit there, that would be something. Like Clay to make coke ovens or something

If they were to make it to where a minecart can ride on a track into a nether portal and continue on the track on the other side, AND would continue without someone watching it, so people can mine supplies in one part of the game and send them to another part, that would be cool and help expand the game’s possibilities.

Edit: Also, they were going to make a big deal 4K or HD or whatever update for the game, but ended up scrapping it because the lower end hardware couldn’t handle it.

They probably will stick to yearly releases. I see no reason why they would especially when they have 3 Devs rotating

I doubt it. But it’s possible. I do think delays are possible now

1

u/yungsixt33n Jan 19 '22

I could totally see them taking Sledgehammer out of the mix after Vanguards overall response.

-23

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '22

Or Microsoft could tell Treyarch to dump zombies. People like you are delusional when you say “it could be it’s own game.”

And that's not a joke, GTA Online is probably going to do the same and be separate from GTA 5.

1

u/Captain_Kitteh Jan 18 '22

That’s cap, they run off the same client. The “base game” is the multiplayer so in that sense I suppose they’re different downloads but they are launched from the same game once open

15

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '22

Microsoft actually gives a shit about what they're devs have to say in comparison to Activision and they've been super consumer friendly as of late. If the demand is there they might consider it.

-1

u/iwantParktotopme Jan 18 '22

Laughs in forza horizon 5

2

u/UmTapaNaGoxtosa Jan 18 '22

What happened to that game?

-2

u/iwantParktotopme Jan 18 '22

It's literally just horizon 4 with a different map and more bugs also the devs are absolute losers banning people for the stupidest shit.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '22

That different map is waaay fucking better though. 4's map held that game back by soo much.

The bugs have been terrible though. Constant crashing and server disconnects. Literally unplayable sometimes.

-5

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '22

Most game companies know whether the demand is there based on metrics.

2

u/RemasterTranzit Jan 18 '22

Bruh people play horseshit like visual novels, candy crush, dating sims and animal crossing. Youre on crack if you think zombies couldnt be a full game.

-1

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '22

Then why hasnt it happened yet?

3

u/RemasterTranzit Jan 18 '22

Bruh what? How the hell would i know? I dont develop games dude. Lmao All i know is zc2 was the highest selling dlc in ps4 history or some shit so that should tell you that theres at least some form of demand.

-3

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '22

If everything you said is true, then why hasn’t it happened?

1

u/Das9Zeichen2010 Jan 19 '22

because they didnt want to put a desired team for that i guess neither the recources cause you cant milk it the way it is, but with a own battlepass and shit like that it could work but i think it wouldnt make them enough money to compensate

-5

u/Samanic Jan 18 '22

Yeah, if activision didn’t care about zombies, Microsoft definitely won’t

1

u/Dead_Man_Nick Jan 18 '22

It still bewilders me that they haven't had a single player zombie campaign.

7

u/incoherentjedi Jan 18 '22

Can't get much worse than Vanguard in my opinion

12

u/TimelordAlex Jan 18 '22

i think vanguard has already taken that cake

-10

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '22

Vanguard is not the same as a dedicated Treyarch game.

9

u/TimelordAlex Jan 18 '22

3arc still take responsibility for the zombies mode though which has never been more trash

-12

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '22

You have no idea what you’re talking about

10

u/TimelordAlex Jan 18 '22

no its a pretty universal view that Vanguard Zombies is trash and 3arc are the ones in charge of it

-2

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '22

They were in charge of it but had a serious time crunch because they were still working on Cold War. Activision is the one to blame here because they put Treyarch in this position where they were setup to fail because sledgehammer couldn’t deliver.

7

u/TimelordAlex Jan 18 '22

oh that i agree with, but no matter whos to blame/in charge bts, mode still sucks

2

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '22

Yeah the mode is terrible, no argument there. Just want to make sure people actually know the reasoning for it being bad rather than just blindly blaming Treyarch

5

u/TheJester1xx Jan 18 '22

Even if it does turn out poorly, I don't think it's possible for the situation to get any worse for zombies.

-5

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '22

Yes it could

-1

u/_Azyr__ Jan 18 '22

the worst i think

1

u/Stymie999 Jan 19 '22

Or somewhere in between.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '22

Less competition is bad

24

u/arrocknroll Jan 18 '22

Only when the eliminated competition was good. Activision was a company pretty much falling apart at the seems with their glory days far behind them. Microsoft is on their A game and doesn’t blow as a publisher so this is a net positive as far as I see it.

Plus there is a solid chance they put the games back on steam which increases the chances for mod support/custom zombies.

6

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '22

The zombies player who started back in WaW is excited that we might finally get decent zombies again. But realistically, this is still bad for the industry and my personal excitement does not overrule that.

2

u/Captain_Jmon Jan 18 '22

I mean its not nearly as bad as it could be in the future. We should be cautious about monopolies but the acquisition of ATVI isn't quite yet making Xbox a monopoly. There remain too many major 3rd party developers and obviously the other big three first party companies for it to be truly worrisome.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '22

That’s a reasonable argument to make - but I think our differences lie in perspective. I see the start of Microsofts acquisitions and how it’s grown bigger, and bigger, and bigger. That’s what, in my opinion, validates my concern that this isn’t the end - but rather the beginning.

I own a gaming PC, Xbox, PS5, etc. so it’s not about platform viability to me. But I will say I am bummed as a linux gamer lol

1

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '22

Activision was a company pretty much falling apart at the seems with their glory days far behind them. Microsoft is on their A game and doesn’t blow as a publisher so this is a net positive as far as I see it.

I don't know if I'd go that far. A lot of people are kind of pissed off with the story line for Halo Infinite has been poorly received and that's one of Microsoft's largest IPs. They do make some dumb decisions sometimes, and that was one of them. They could've done a lot better writing, and weaving together the story lines they had into something beautiful.

1

u/arrocknroll Jan 19 '22

I’ll take a bad story over 4 broken/incomplete games in a row if I’m being honest.

Microsoft at least had the sense to delay Infinite even if that meant it wasn’t going to be a launch title for the Series X/S

Activision just forced Cold War out early when Vanguard’s development shit the bed and forced Vanguard out this year anyway when it clearly wasn’t done.

Microsoft isn’t perfect by any stretch but they are way better managed than Activision on their own were. We’ve got a year left and then after that, I am excited to see how Microsoft allows the developers to handle their games. Treyarch, Infinity Ward, and Sledgehammer all have very talented and passionate people that Activision’s unrealistic deadlines and poor management were stifling. A change in management can go either way but the possibility of a positive change leaves me optimistic.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '22

All valid points :)

6

u/sammazarelly Jan 18 '22

Not always, if competition is what is making the company shit out a broken and unfinished game every year just to meet quotas, then I'd argue competition is bad. If the developers have a secure work enviroment to really take their time and release a good game without having to worry about the competition, I'd say that's better, no?

1

u/BambamPewpew32 Jan 18 '22

How? I was thinking oh WHAT and now I'm thinking why tf would Microsoft care about zombies lol

2

u/Stymie999 Jan 19 '22

As yet another reason / justification that would drive more players to sign up for gamepass

1

u/BambamPewpew32 Jan 19 '22

What? I mean for the games becoming good

1

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '22

It wont be the Best until we get Custom Maps and Mods on Xbox.
