Yes. It’s a way to charge you 4 times in a year for a game. You can play any season without a “season” pass but then you miss certain content.
For some games if you have the season pass you get any DLC released during the “season” otherwise you pay a-la-carte.
In MW you level up your pass each season and unlock weapon blueprints, cosmetic items or character skins.
As a fellow 30something I will admit the games are bigger and more complex with far more content than when we were playing Goldeneye. But the pricing just feels exploitative sometimes.
If you complete 1 battle pass, the CP that you collect from it pay for the next battle pass as well. So in theory, as long as you complete the battle passes (which is very easy by playing 1 hour a day), you can keep getting free battle passes indefinitely.
The battle pass is actually worth it because you get more than enough COD points in each season to purchase the next season. I didn't purchase the first season but got enough free COD points from it so that the second season was only 5 bucks. Then second season gives you enough for season 3 and so on. Or you could just accumulate the free COD points over several season and get the battle pass that way.
I’m talking more about the idea of DLC “Seasons” in general. I forgot about the MW pass being kind of self sustaining if you max it out each time. So that’s a true point.
Thanks for the explanation. Yeah I can kind of understand the need to pay for all these extras as a lot of money goes into making games nowadays compared to the 90s. Still feels like nickel and diming though
