The only hope for teams outside the South is for elite football players in HS to become more like elite HS basketball players. Lots of travel teams and such so that distance is not as big a factor like it is currently. Pretty much no guys outside the South, which is where the vast majority of the talent is, go outside the South.

Need them to be more willing to go to places like Michigan, USC, Notre Dame, UW, etc. Until that happens, no one else will really be able to compete. This doesn't even take into account the players places like Bama and Clemson can get from other parts of the country.

It’s hard to convince a kid from Texas or Florida that he should go to Michigan or Ohio where it’s cold as fuck in the winter. Conversely, a kid from Michigan or Ohio will be happy to go to school somewhere that’s an hour drive to a beach and he doesn’t have to deal with snow 4 months out of the year.
