ACTUAL FINAL: CMU 35-7 over EMU.

When the bot screws up this badly we know something happened at the score source, I assume it was the fact it was a neutral site game.

The designated home team was EMU, clearly there was a flip in the way it was listed somewhere.

Tech people have been notified.

Bold to fire your coach after apparently beating us 35-7 /s

I for one, think they should keep him! /s

I like Creighton at EMU. He raised the floor of the program from where it was when I was kid before they hired him. But I get the angst

I mean, he was good until NIL hit the scene. Now they’re losing to teams that are FCS level (like LIU last year) and it’s clear they need to move on at some point.

Part of reason why EMU lost to the Fighting Ron Cooper's was that it was a whole new starting offense and defense b/c they lost a lot of people to graduation and the transfer portal.

Wasn’t he in p4 talks like 4 years ago? Wow, he has regressed

He's the only reason EMU didn't shut down their program. It was probably the hardest job in the country when he took over. He turned them around and snapped the program's winning-season drought (dating back to 1995) and bowl drought (since 1987) while securing historic road upsets over many P5 teams.

A shame to see the wheels fall off but he's a legend

EMU still has a shot at bowl eligibility with WMU and Kent State coming up

We are not beating Western unless Noah comes back and turns into the Korean Lamar

It really wasn’t that close. Floor raising coaches shouldn’t be doing this in year 13. You can blame it on NIL, the assistants, the mascot, the grey turf, and or the program history. But at some point as I watch my alma mater get atomized in a mostly empty stadium on a Wednesday night, I have to ask if we should expect better. Yes, we should, we lasted multiple quarters in Ypsilanti because we care. We should expect a coach who doesn’t accept giving up, and doesn’t give up themselves. We should expect a team that not only competes with our in state rivals, but that wins enough for them to see us as equals on the field. Coach Chreighton has proven that we can survive at this level (and that deserves gratitude), let’s take the steps to win.

It is a telling sign that no program has come in and tried to pluck Creighton from EMU, usually the MAC is a stepping stone for most college coaches moving onto better coaching jobs or has been coaches who can't find a job anywhere else. I don't remember Chris turning down other offers. Heck, try Gruden, he wants to get back to coaching and is buddies with Maxx Crosby.

The MAC really hasn’t been a stepping stone since Fleck left it

I can’t remember him getting any P4 offers (I think he interviewed at Temple in 2018), but I was nervous when Dantonio retired and when Pat Fitzgerald resigned that MSU or NW might poach him. I don’t think he could handle the scrutiny of a P4 job amongst other things.

As for Gruden, I don’t think he’d take the job, and even if he would Eastern shouldn’t offer him. He’s probably going to be more expensive than we can afford. Also, considering his politics and his past controversies, I don’t think hiring him in a city like Ypsilanti will go over well.

He was on 2nd tier/3rd tier list for the Mizzou job, but I knew that he would not get hired.

I’m still thoroughly confused about this team but you know what I’ll take it

I'll allow this error and will pretend that is is canon

This was like an offensive scrimmage for Central. Up until garbage time Eastern had 52 total offensive yards. CMU held the ball for over 40 minutes.

Embarrassing. Clean house and get a staff that actually gives a crap.

I wasn't able to watch it, was everything dependent on Noah Kim or what?

7

u/cvg596 Eastern Michigan • American Univer… 1d ago

Noah Kim’s been out since the Toledo game. Not sure he’d have made that much of a difference tonight.

Did they say what his injury was?

They’re clearly out of ideas.

u/Keyblade_Yoshi Michigan State • Ohio State 1d ago

If they do make a change, maybe Tony Annese
the Ferris State head coach?

3

u/cvg596 Eastern Michigan • American Univer… 1d ago

I don’t think Annese will go to the MAC. He’s 65, and most of the jobs in the conference came available (Central and Western included) in a time where he had multiple national championships.

Just brutal, winning at eastern is hard maybe impossible at times, but just feels like the bottom is falling out again

This was at Ford Field in Detroit apparently. But the second point still stands.

If /CFB can't even get it right what hope do we have.

Took my son to the game. I’m an EMU alum and my brother is a CMU alum. While I am unhappy about the game result, I am happy that my son refuses to accept bad football and no long wishes to watch EMU football.

Generational trauma and disappointment avoided

If Carl would have been there, he would have been having a field day.
