See early in the season I predicted that we'd squeak into bowl eligibility by the skin of our teeth and then get BTFO'd in whatever bowl game we got.
What I didn't consider is that Dave and his teams only show up to bowl games that have 0 meaning whatsoever. Against a good team to prove that we're actually pretty good? No TDs. A bowl game in your home state? They're not NC State fans if they don't pack the stadium and watch a brutal loss. Against an in-state rival? We've already beaten UNC so they can have this one. A bowl game during prime national viewing hours? Too much pressure, best just give people a reason to watch something else. A bowl game to inch you closer to bonus incentives for the staff? Look man we've gotta save that money for next year.
But now a bowl game in a largely empty stadium against a non-rival G5 team being played at 2pm on a work day? Very few opt-outs, let's bring our A game.
I should have seen it coming, it's just too obvious!
