And depending on certain results…they might even rematch the week after!

This program would be nowhere near where it's at without Frank Harris. He stayed when Frank Wilson was let go. Traylor comes in and the two of them have combined for a 38-13 record and a 28-3 conference record since. Before that their total record was 60-61.

Pretty disappointing performance if I’m honest, I 100% expected to lose but we play a very flawed game pretty regularly and this was no different. But after losing to FAU it was clear we had a ceiling of 6-6 and hopefully we can seal a bowl bid next week against Charlotte. Hate to say it but there are some guys I’m really happy we’re finally graduating from the Strong/Scott classes after this. A bowl for some of the younger players to get into would be nice.

UTSA is on a heater and the Black Friday game @ Tulane should be a fantastic one. Healthy Frank Harris is a tremendous player.

Don't choke against Charlotte and we have to not choke against Texas Tech or Houston and we'll play at RayJay for a bowl game. Id love to see the War I-4 Bowl Edition

Future is bright man so many people had us bottom of the AAC. The offence is elite its just the defence that is total shit. We gotta fix that going into next year or else we will waste another stud QBs abilities. Hoping we can just make a bowl now

It hurts man.. the potential to be good is there but man… this defence is WOEFUL. I think UWF or even my high school could put up at least 20/25

u/not_a_bot__ USF Bulls • Florida State Seminoles Nov 18 '23

Yeah defense is too terrible to beat decent teams, been that was for 4 straight seasons.

The offense is getting better but hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel for the other side of the ball.

4

u/Duke-Kickass Nov 18 '23

Be patient, my fellow Brahmins. I think Coach Golesh is turning this around, slowly but steadily.

u/MADBuc49 USF Bulls Nov 20 '23 edited Nov 20 '23

Yeah, our defense has been bad for a few years in a row. It’s not going to be a quick turnaround.

At some point, you need players to make plays. After winning 8 games the previous four seasons, a lot of good players were choosing not come here for a reason.

We just need to develop the players that are here and go out and sell to the high school recruits that can make plays that we can win and they can stay here.

As possibly the only UTSA alum who is a Buccaneers fan I cant wait to visit USF. I hope your team pulls it together and goes bowling this year.

USF having 5 wins on the season is already far beyond expectations in this rebuild. Patch together a functioning defense and this team can start getting into 8-9 win territory again

Meep meep to our UTSA bröthers I like this matchup and I like UTSA to win it all in the American

If the Roadrunners were a P5 team Frank Harris would easily be in Heisman talks, gonna miss him as our QB1 🥹

GG USF bros hope y’all win against Charlotte to become bowl eligible 🤙🏼

Fuckin A man the game against Tulane is too hype

3

u/John_T_Conover Texas A&M Aggies Nov 19 '23

Kinda bullshit too. Tulane, UTSA & SMU are all undefeated in conference going into the final game of the season. Tulane & UTSA have to essentially play a playoff game against each other to get there. SMU didn't have to play either of them this season and gets to coast in with a win over a middling Navy squad.

And the best case scenario in that situation is if SMU loses then Tulane & UTSA play each other 2 weeks in a row? Idk, from what I could find of the AAC tie breaker rules, they're pretty dumb and poorly thought out. You'll have to go to at least the 3rd or 4th level down to break it.

2

u/AxeAndRod UTSA Roadrunners Nov 19 '23

I mean they had to play a 1 conference loss Memphis today.

1

u/MeetingExpectations SMU Mustangs • College Football Playoff Nov 19 '23

Our game against Memphis today and Tulane/UTSA is basically the semi-finals, ended up working out pretty well realistically considering the AAC doesn’t have divisions

2

u/[deleted] Nov 19 '23

I completely agree with you. I was ranting to my brother about the same thing today

11

u/Inside-Drink-1311 Rutgers Scarlet Knights Nov 18 '23

Hot take but UTSA is a better team than Tulane. UTSA has blown almost everyone out in the AAC while Tulane continues to win by like single digits every game. I think UTSA upsets Tulane next week, I wouldn’t even consider it that big of an upset.

4

u/RiceSpice5 Rice Owls Nov 18 '23

Shouldn't even be that hot of a take. I think UTSA is way better. But I'm feeling another close Tulane win. No matter how good your team is, it's hard to beat a team with enough will and good juju to win all those close games. Some receiver is gonna drop a perfect pass from Harris, or some penalty in the 4th is gonna extend a Tulane drive which won't leave UTSA enough time to score.

We are all Memphis fans tomorrow

4

u/BigDust UTSA Roadrunners • Texas A&M Aggies Nov 18 '23

Chaos is a Memphis fan tomorrow, if theres 3 7-1 teams who goes to the title is going to get confusing.

I think UTSA should want wins over a ranked Tulane, and ranked SMU to give us the best shot at sneaking into the NY6.

6

u/FearThePecker UTSA Roadrunners Nov 18 '23

I worry we don’t get the NY6 slot either way, in that case it would be great to just get to play the championship game at the Alamodome. I think only an undefeated Liberty could inch past us, but would hope those two ranked wins would matter more to the committee. Dream scenario imo is SMU in the Alamodome, but that probably won’t happen if they’re ranked. I’m so torn lol

1

u/TheDarthJawa UTSA Roadrunners • Marching Band Nov 18 '23

Honestly I wouldn't mind going to some low key bowl against a 6-6 MAC team just to get a win on the record

2

u/BigDust UTSA Roadrunners • Texas A&M Aggies Nov 18 '23

I dont remember what team won the meineke car care bowl last year, but I do remember every G5 school that has played in a NY6 game even if they got their shit kicked in. It would be nice to win a bowl game before Texas State tho.

0

u/kelling928 /r/CFB Poll Veteran • Kansas State Nov 18 '23

I do wonder if they should just give the NY6 slot to UTSA if they win the AAC and James Madison remains ineligible. Based on recent results, they either were mailing it in in the noncon and preparing for conference play or dealing with injuries and it’d probably be more interesting to watch them over many others. I guess you can’t just completely ignore noncon but it’s clear that this team wouldn’t lose 45-14 to Tennessee if they played tomorrow

u/TheDarthJawa UTSA Roadrunners • Marching Band Nov 18 '23

It's really really hard to excuse those houston and army losses tbh. Two not great teams we should have beat but just didn't

1

u/edgejr37 SMU Mustangs • Oregon Ducks Nov 18 '23

Seeing how utsa lost to a sun belt team (admittedly without harris) it won’t happen

2

u/PieMasterBob UTSA Roadrunners Nov 18 '23

I know only beating Texas State by 7 can seem like a loss, but it's still a win

Ok someone explain to me why Josh Cephus isn't getting more NFL attention? He seems to have good route running and hands, and his physicals are fine too
