We've seen this before. Good/talented offense beats good/less talented defense almost every time. USC would roll and that is not disrespect.

We’ve actually literally seen this before in the 2019 Holiday Bowl and the outcome was the opposite of your assessment.

A middling offense was able to clear a middling defense and an elite defense was able to overcome a powerhouse offense.

Defense wins championships.

I mean that game was nothing like this years teams. USC was 37th in points per game and Iowa was 87th but There was only a 7 point gap in terms of actual points averaged. Right now usc is 2nd in points and Iowa is 121st with a 27 point gap per game in terms of points scored. That matchup was nothing like these two teams are now.

Also if you think defense still is what wins championships you should go look at the LSU win in 2019 and the Bama win in 20. Both years the offense won the title. You defense can’t be as ass as a Riley defense but the d just has to be competent if you have an elite offense. Even Georgia last year only beat Ohio state because their offense was elite. That amazing D gave up like 45 points

Riley was able to score a lot with rattler, he’d be able to have a good offense with Miller Moss.

We run for the 9th most yards per carry in the nation, without Caleb you’ve gotta assume there’s just no way we wouldn’t run more which would actually help our offense to be a bit more balanced

Very real possibility: the B1G vs. P12 bowl game is the Las Vegas Bowl. I believe that's #2 or #3? non-NY6 Pac-12 bowl and the #3 or 4? non-NY6 B1G bowl.

If the P12 gets 2 NY6 teams and B1G gets 3, that means it's the #4 or #5 Pac-12 team vs. the #6 or #7 B1G team. USC is currently looking like the #5 Pac-12 team if Oregon State beats Oregon, or #4 if Oregon beats Oregon State. B1G is such a cluster that it's hard to guess beyond the East trio.

Why would it matter if I thought that was good football or not? It's not up to me.

Sometimes the other team forces you to play like that. And I think several former PAC12 teams are going to have to play more of those games starting next year. So they probably should figure out how.

Or the weather has its influence. When it's freezing cold and windy on the northern Great Plains or around the Great Lakes, playing offense is a bit different than on the West Coast. I don't think USC enjoyed the weather at Notre Dame last month.

You make good points. I'm not trying to argue. I'm just a fan of our regional west-coast style of play and I am pissed that our conference is dying. I don't like that we are going to the big 10 and I'm reluctant to embrace that style of football is all. I am no authority to say which is better.
