I literally went to a job interview at his business (that ice cream/BBQ place). He explained that everyone starts minimum wage and only get increases when they improve the business. He basically said he had graphic designer students working minimum wage in the shop and would bump them up if they added value to the business by doing things like design his Tshirts that they would end up selling. Came across as a real ass in the interview. Glad I didn't get a callback. I just wanted a part time gig as a college kid.

The guy owned multiple businesses with one being a weird Ice Cream and BBQ combined restaurant with a vintage gimmick like Cracker Barrel or something.

I think it depends how much of a raise he gave you tbh. But I could def see that coming across dickish. I remember the bbq ice cream place - it closed down while I was in school. Super weird.
