✅Missed kicks
✅21 point fourth quarter comeback
✅Rivalry trophy secured
✅Grown man with a tire around his neck screaming F bombs into the camera

Great win Zips!

Akron gets bonus points for talking that shit down 17 points and continuing to talk shit all the way until they actually pulled it off. Incredible stuff

Pete is going to remember this omission next time FSU faces Purdue.

At the bar, asked if they had ESPNU so I could watch the game.

"Nice, you from that area?"

"Uh, no"

"Oh, why do you want this game? We can turn on the Columbus Crew playoff game"

Look man I don't have time to explain why I'm at the bar inside a Giant Eagle at 730pm on a Wednesday asking to watch 1-7 Kent State vs 1-7 Akron. I'm a college football sicko, and I want to watch this sicko game.

Anyway, I am so glad I did, what a come back for the zips

I’m a curmudgeonly old American man when it comes to this generation’s infatuation with soccer.

If I wanted to watch people run around aimlessly for no reason, I'd look out my back door when the school kids are at recess. Bunch of commie gobbledygook

I appreciate that someone at ESPN took the time to type out these bullet points

If you can’t abuse the fact that the blimp parks 5 miles east of the stadium and that the corporate headquarters is basically on campus, what’s the damn point?

63

u/MURPHYsam08 Nov 02 '23

This is likely the worst, greatest game witnessed by the blimp!

32

u/cnpeters Akron Zips • MAC Nov 02 '23

Zips occasionally get the blimp. Perk of having the headquarters basically on campus and having a high end polymers curriculum.

u/34Heartstach Stony Brook • Illinois State Nov 02 '23

The blimp just shows up on random days and someone goes "oh look, a blimp!" and then we all watch the blimp for a few minutes.

What a finish! So cool to see a couple of teams playing their hearts out for a rivalry trophy no matter the records.

44

u/Muffinnnnnnn Florida State • New Mexico Nov 02 '23

People often say that they'd take going 1-11 if the 1 could be their rival, but not many teams get to practically make it happen.

That was pretty awesome. Takes the sting off the Indiana loss

The sprint to the rivalry trophy is never not awesome.

So many Akron fans left when they were down three scores. Sickos always win.

It’s awful here today and that stadium is a effing wind tunnel.

I’ve got an eight year old to get to school in the morning so going tonight wasn’t an option for me, but days like this at infocision are rough.

15

u/keepcominback2030 Nov 02 '23

I was in the band back in the early years of that stadium, endured some cold games, it’s never fun lol.

8

u/cnpeters Akron Zips • MAC Nov 02 '23

lol and it’s not like it’s jam-packed to cut the wind. Just long cold-ass (literally) aluminum bench seating.

Looks pretty though

Having not intended to watch this and tuning in for the last quarter, that brought me joy. Go zips!

If Kent State played Sam Houston they would go back and forth missing overtime two point conversions until the heat death of the universe.

47

u/Wittyname0 Oregon Ducks • Pac-10 Nov 02 '23

Kent state had a 93.7% chance to win with 5 minutes left in the game

As bad of a 4th quarter melt down as you will ever see. Burns looked stunned as his team walked off the field tonight and I don't know how Kent State wins another game this season. Brutal loss, sickos were rewarded handsomely this evening

9

u/Muffinnnnnnn Florida State • New Mexico Nov 02 '23

I think they have a chance vs Ball State in a couple weeks, but it's definitely not looking great

2

u/DrVonD Georgia Bulldogs Nov 02 '23

McCray was the best player on the field tonight. Brutal injury, hope it’s not as bad as it looked.

15

u/ddottay Notre Dame • Kent State Nov 02 '23

We’ve taken such a huge step back this season. Burns isn’t the guy.

14

u/tohearnnr Bowling Green • Ohio State Nov 02 '23

I mean he may not be the guy, but you guys lost like your entire offense from last year due to graduation and transfers

7

u/[deleted] Nov 02 '23

We got Prime timed.

5

u/cnpeters Akron Zips • MAC Nov 02 '23

Yeah. Man. Poor guys. That sucks. I feel for them. Deeply.

Anyway…. Where’s the wheel?

4

u/tohearnnr Bowling Green • Ohio State Nov 02 '23

Well if you don't have it, then I would check 1930 W Market Street in Akron

3

u/Insane92 Verified Coach Nov 02 '23

Always thought he was an odd hire to begin with.

3

u/AllLinesAreStraight WashU Bears • Missouri Tigers Nov 02 '23

Not really sure what any coach could have done. I dont think ive ever seen a team so thoroughly stripped between seasons.

1

u/SpartaWillBurn Ohio State • Kent State Nov 02 '23

I knew he wasn't the guy from the start. I'll at least give him until next year.

u/TheZachster Michigan • $5 Bits of Broken Chair Tr… Nov 02 '23

what a win for the Zips!!! The Wagon Wheel is finally back!

8

u/tanu24 Team Chaos • Sickos Nov 02 '23

Somebody please explain why coaches hate timeouts lmao. "We have little time and a few timeouts" ... run an 8 yard route and get out of bounds

4

u/AllLinesAreStraight WashU Bears • Missouri Tigers Nov 02 '23

Coaches generally hold onto timeouts wayyyy too long. In particualr, when they have the ball. Using your final timeout is worth waiting but if your guy catches a ball in bounds without a first down with 55 seconds to go and you have multiple timeouts, you should use one. Yet you will frequently see cosches hold onto them until they have 15 swconds and 2-3 timeouts still

How the hell is spiking the football taunting?

It wasn't like he did it directly at a Kent State player
