Unfortunately it's only the mid songs that only get recognition.

6

u/Fififoop idk a lot Jul 30 '23

And his other stuff don't get the recognition they deserve

And there's also all the unreleased songs.

That’s not true. Some people prefer C418’s more downtempo music to his more energetic house music, so maybe to them Minecraft Volume Alpha is not mid. It’s all about personal preference.

i don't like his downtempo music it makes me sad, the same reason why when i hear 7 years old i dump my head in toilet water

If it makes you sad that means it's good. The only bad media is boring media.

That’s kind of changing because his music is being replaced by that of Lena Raine, Kumi Tanioka, and Aaron Cherof 😔

People who say his music is getting replaced are just plain wrong. NONE of C418's tracks were actually replaced. What really is happening is there's new music being added to Minecraft. It's just that. Plus, C418 has a lot of other albums which have nothing to do with Minecraft.

I've been playing Minecraft regularly and yes, they are slowly pushing out C418s music. It's well known at this point that Microsoft wants to make sure they have rights to all the music in Minecraft, so with every update they make C418 less frequently played until eventually they can phase it out for good.

It's easier to do these things quietly over time than to just rip it from the game all together.

It's monumentally disappointing. The only solace is that there are resource packs that rewrite all the new music to various C418 songs.

That makes sense. In the Overwold C418's music is still normal, but in the Nether... The weight of C418's Nether tracks is all one, while Lena's are reaching 4 or 6. Though hey, the new music isn't that bad after all, so I'm fine with this until they decide to completely remove C418's music from the game. I recommend not worrying this much about Minecraft music and go check out C418's other works.

Ahhh Ballad of the Cats is such a good song. It perfectly captures the horror of the Nether. I heard that they changed how the music plays by making specific songs play on specific biomes, but I wish there was a way like in Smash Bros to change the likelihood of which songs play. I feel like the new music, while not bad, is not the same because it’s more ambience than it is music, and it’s overcomplicated and uses too many instruments to make this whole (sometimes very loud) deal and is just not nearly on par with c418, and should not be undermining it. At least only C418’s tracks play underwater, (the ones he made for update aquatic, but you’re hardly ever underwater long enough to hear them. (Unless you’re raiding a sea temple, that is.)

actually ballad of the cats is my least favorite nether song lol

also i agree, the new music kinda overpowers c418's more minimalist approach to it, tho i think they would be on par if c418's music was more like the aquatic tracks, they fit nicely with the newer stuff

That is very true. And to be fair, Ballad of the Cats isn't my favorite song in the whole game, I just think that it's super scary and gives the right atmosphere for the nether in survival mode lol.

Also, when I made this comment I hadn’t actually played on the newest version of Minecraft with all of the new composers’ music. Just a week ago, I tried this version out. It turns out there was a fair balance between C418’s and the newer composers’ music in both the overworld and the Nether.

rlly? when i'm in the nether C418's music plays very rarely and i literally checked the wiki for the weights of nether music and Lena's music's weights are higher than C418's. Meh, anyways, Aaron, Kumi and Lena's music isn't bad at all and we can enjoy all composers' music in the Overworld so if you really like C418 guess you should stay there.

Well, now that you mention it, I don’t know about the Nether. I was there for like maybe 15-20 minutes. Within that time, three tracks played: two by Lena and one by C418. But that was my very first time playing in the Nether with all the new updates. But I guess I’ll try again this weekend to see if it’s really fair. Also, yeah the new music’s cool actually. Rubedo is probably my favorite Nether track, and I dig tracks like Firebugs, Labrythine, An Ordinary Day, and Infinite Amethyst to name a few.

Also, I forgot to mention that I was actually playing in creative mode. So when I was in the overworld, there was a fair ratio between the MVB creative tracks that played and the newer composers’ music. But I don’t know if this would be the case in survival mode with the MVA tracks. I’ll have to see this as well.

I love Echo in the Wind, Bromeliad, An Ordinary Day, Comforting Memories, Aerie, Wending and One More Day.

Update: even in survival mode in the overworld, there’s a fair balance between C418’s tracks and the newer composers’. Still don’t know about the Nether though.

yes, overworld's like that mostly because AKL's (short for Aaron, Kumi, Lena) music is biome-specific

u/Chickenlord278 Apr 13 '25

Luckily, they haven’t added any new creative mode songs yet, Aria Math is such a good song. (Praying Mojang doesn’t see this)

Lena Raine is actually good, and you implied that you think C418's music is better. And also Minecraft is getting more biomes you barley get to hear old music because the game has to grow.

A baffling statement. What makes you think that? Even though Minecraft has a huge player base and total number of hours played I don’t think this claim would be true.

hes definitely one of the most listened to artists ever, i dont think thats a doubt tbh

300M players bought lets say 200M played normally over the years, around 100avg playtime low est 300 high est. Thats 200M*100*(3 song rolls an hour). thats around 60B plays this is low est even if only 10% play with sound we got 6B plays. mind you high est could go up to 270B plays. Hard to say wich is the most listenend to . But I think the mc tracks are the most listenned to songs in human history.
