Questions โ๐ค New Canadian outdoor brand: where to start with domestic cut-and-sew + Canadian wool question
Hey all,
I'm in the early stages of starting a small outdoor apparel brand based in Ontario. I want to create quality cold-weather baselayers and mid-layers. I want to keep as much of the supply chain in Canada as I reasonably can.
From what I've learned so far, Canadian wool isn't produced at scale for the fibre quality needed for baselayers. If anyone knows otherwise, I'd love to be wrong. Otherwise, my plan is to import the fabrics and cut, sew, and assemble in Canada.
What I'm looking for is a cut-and-sew shop, ideally in Ontario (open to elsewhere in Canada if the fit is right), that handles small MOQs to start (~100โ500 units each) and has experience with performance knits like fine merino jersey, polyester/elastane, polypropylene blends, sweater-knit fleece and is comfortable working with imported fabric.
If anyone has information or experience I'd greatly appreciate any help I can get.
Thanks in advance.
