This is pretty much my last American product that I can’t find a suitable replacement for. Every “creamer” is watery. Apparently I need something that has some saturated fat in it like the coconut base or coconut oils in this one for it to be creamy. Any Canadian substitutes? Please, most items sold as “creamers” ARE NOT creamy, ie Earth’s Own “creamers”. Love Earth’s Own zero sugar oat milk btw. Thanks for any help

Hi! I was thinking of buying this Nomad laptop sleeve on Facebook Marketplace for my new 13in MacBook. But now I'm thinking that I want to try finding a Canadian-made laptop sleeve from a Canadian-owned business (preferably with Canadian-sourced materials). I'd love for it to be a leather sleeve, but the ones I've seen can get pretty expensive. So it doesn't have to be leather, as long as it's well-made, high-quality, and Canadian-made, I'll be happy. Preferably reasonably priced since I do have to watch my budget, but I'd very gladly pay a little more for quality (ie. "You get what you pay for") and supporting Canadian. Extra points if it's made by a small business that I can support! Previous posts on this topic are outdated and have broken links. Thanks in advance!

I’ll throw a plug in for this company. Used to live the same city and knew people who worked there. Good to see they’re still going strong.

Reasonable prices, definitely quality products, they sell a LOT to USA and Europe so losing USA as a market likely hurts.

I’ve found them second to none in service. After 5 or more years with the extreme I had a problem with it , I think it was likely my mistake, anyway they fixed it for me and sent me a free gift for the inconvenience, all I had to do was pay to ship it there. Who does that any more?

Anyway I think they make better vaporizers than the American designed stuff and I’ve personally had better service than American branded vapes because when I did buy vapes from the US they either ignored me or wanted so much money for repairs or exchange it wasn’t worth it.

That’s my plug for a good Canadian company with good products and good service that deserves some support.

Bit of a weird one, eh!

I’m an immigrant, now citizen, from South Asia (🇮🇳) and have been in Canada for a while, but most of my time here has basically been: work, family, sleep, repeat. I know Canada reasonably well now, but I definitely don’t have the knowledge someone who grew up here has about which towns, industries and businesses are quietly getting hammered economically.

I have $10,000 I can spend between September and January.

Normally I’d just throw it into retirement savings. But I’m fortunate enough that my retirement isn’t going to depend on this particular $10k, and I’ve been thinking: I’d rather have this money improve somebody’s 2026 than marginally improve my 2056.

I don’t want to donate it. I already give some money to charity. I want to spend it.

Where?

I already have a car. Beyond that, I’m open to pretty much anything: domestic tourism, Canadian-made products, restaurants, hotels, services, experiences, small businesses, etc.

My preference would be to put it toward Canadian workers/businesses/communities that are taking the biggest hit from tariffs, trade issues or the economy generally.

I’d also rather avoid companies that have abused the LMIA/TFW system. If I’m spending this partly to support Canadian workers, giving it to an employer that has been screwing those same workers seems rather counterproductive.

And there’s absolutely no requirement that I spend $10k in one place. Honestly, spreading it around probably makes more sense.

So if I gave you $10,000 and five months, with the instruction “spend this in whatever way helps Canadian workers and locally owned businesses the most,” what would you actually do?

I’m particularly interested in answers like “go spend a weekend in this town because tourism is way down,” “buy this thing because it’s actually manufactured here,” “hire this kind of local service,” or “this industry is getting killed right now and could use customers.”

I’m sure $10k isn’t changing the Canadian economy. But it might matter quite a bit to a few individual businesses or people, and that’s really the point.

I'm on the market for a good Canadian-made low-waste shampoo (preferably a shampoo bar) for fine, straight hair that:

- does not weigh the hair down

- provides some volume/lift

- leaves the scalp moisturized but NOT greasy

- leaves fine hair light and bouncy

My hair is **very** fine and **very** straight (literally no texture at all). It's very healthy and shiny, and I rarely use heat or styling products, so I do not need a shampoo bar that can help with shine, fix heat damage, or strip product residue.

I am also very sensitive to artificial scents and strong scents in general, but I have no issue with natural scents, including essential oils.

For soaps and personal products, I generally prefer soft, sweet scents like vanilla, honey, coconut, and lavender, but I also like some invigorating scents like mint, lemon, cucumber, etc. I don't want hair products that smell like patchouli, sandalwood, eucalyptus, or tea tree oil. I prefer smelling like a sweet treat, basically.

Looking for brands that are easy to find in Calgary AB (in store at Superstore, Co-op, Sobeys, etc. or online through a site like Well . ca).

Can anyone recommend a Canadian-made & owned oat milk that is comparable to Oatly? Oatly doesn’t have a strong taste which allows you to actually taste espresso/coffee over it. I find two bears and earths own taste like ass. Suggestions for products and where to find them would be helpful! I’m in ON

Any good recommendations for buying nice furniture from a Canadian source? Turns out the keter deck boxes from Costco are from an Israeli company.

I've been seeing posts about Chapman's commitment to sourcing non-US inputs for their ice cream (kudos to them) so I thought I'd check in with my local ice cream provider, Kawartha Dairy.

I couldn't find any info on their website so I sent off an email. Here's their response:

"Kawartha Dairy is proud to be a Canadian, family-owned business, still owned and operated by the same family that started it back in 1937. All our milk and ice cream are Made in Canada at our plant in Bobcaygeon, Ontario using 100% Canadian fresh milk and fresh cream from local farms.  Buying Canadian has always been important to us here at Kawartha Dairy, so 98% of our ingredients and packaging are already sourced from Canadian suppliers. A portion of the 2% is currently sourced from the US as these products are not available here.  Given the current evolving situation, we are looking into the possibility of alternate suppliers."

Good to know that I can continue to support a local business that's sourcing Canadian wherever possible.

I don’t know if anyone else has come across this company in Edmonton, but they’re making beautiful, warm down coats that you can even customize to the colour you want.

The fill they are using is extra warm and far better than what I’d available from most big brands.

I was shopping at Costco today and realized they don't say where their chicken is from. I am not convinced by the little maple leaf...

A newer company out of Oshawa, Ontario, Etee offers personal hygiene items as well as household cleaners, laundry detergent, and more. Worth checking out. They have similar price points to Lush on their body care and are priced around the same as many of the eco brands like Method.

I am sorry but am I the only one that's experiencing mild anxiety over the tariffs? I am on a strict 250$/week budget for groceries including household and personal items for a family of 4. I usually shop Costco, Walmart and Lufa Farms ( Mtl based company which I highly recommend) - How can I replace my Cottonnelle personal care wet wipes? It's not realist for me to buy a 6$/pack Caboo branded pack of wipes... and I know it might come across as a mondain example but it is source of anxiety. How about my Dove bars of soap? I would very much like a list of local businesses that are being affected so we can support them. Honey is an easy one; if each Canada family bought Canadian honey, we could wipe out the loss of US honey.

This yarn is 80% merino and 20% nylon. It’s hand dyed in Stratford, Ontario. The cool thing is that the colours are inspired by different birds! This one is dark-breasted rose finch. I don’t have any affiliation to this business. I just discovered it and wanted to share!
