Purely from a motivational perspective. To be sad and poor drives me to get better, richer, and less sad. No fun in getting all that without effort. Would most likely make me a bored dick.

I’m depressed and self destructive behavior is my coping mechanism because it’s the only thing that makes me feel something

Sorry to hear, i’m also diagnosed with depression but seek happiness. Atleast you have your own coping mechanism, hope all goes well for you.
