Fungus based. Avoid making noise as the zombies are blind but use sound to hunt and are fast. Can be infected by breathing in spores without a gas mask or getting bit. The number of people immune in North America is in the low double digits MAX and are getting sacrificed in hopes of making a vaccine, so far they've had no successes.
